You don't seem to get it

It's not the distance that is the issue

the issue is with international laws and distribution rights

French content laws are different from Spain

And copyright and distribution rights have to be filed for each country

this means games banned in France may not be downloaded from a Spanish account while in France

International laws and distribution rights do affect borders

This has nothing to do with publishers

 

FYI halo 3 is region locked due to content and distribution rights.

Some countries take offense to some religious content and violence it has

Germany if I remember correctly was one of the first countries to call for it

You have to match your account region with your actual region

Region locked content doesn't transfer between regions as international laws apply

Suggest you read the thread not just the title as it has been answered many times

 

Ok, so if you could provide a list of these so called region locked games because I made a simple experiment during my holidays, I took this account which is from Spain and was region changed to France and brought it back to Spain AND also a friend's French
account registered in France, so, as I went to my Xbox 360 over there, magically it would work on his account but not on mine ... the game was Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, this region thing works in mysterious ways it seems, oh and also, he didn't
ever play the game, it wasn't "registered" on his account but on mine, yes, I really do hope that it's all a coincidence.

If someone could provide a list or at least some names of developpers that won't allow region change that would be great to check.

because the French region locked content can only be downloaded while in French

changing your account region doesn't change past content this is part of the warnings you received in the migration tool

for the best experience with xbox live your account region should always reflect your actual region

also if you want a LIST

try every developer that makes triple A titles

for every region content and distribution rights must comply with international laws that's is why localization is a must with most developers

 

m rated content is high up there on content that is region locked due to regional laws

 

Erm, I believe that's kinda outdated I got to download Hitman : Absolution without changing region and it's M rated, explain me this and my region is locked on Spain but I downloaded the game being in France so it's really weirding me out and giving me more
reason, I didn't own a CD copy of this game and didn't had achievements on it.

I'll keep this updated and see if someone can provide an explanation that is coherent.

 

Ok, so to the latest games released on GWD, I couldn't download Saints Row 3 ( I already own a CD copy of it) but Dark Souls worked fine and I don't have it registered.
