Games With Gold : No Sufficient space

Hello There ,

So Me and my friend decided to get a Xbox live gold membership so we could get this fortnight's free game ( dark souls ) and play it together .

the only problem is that i have a 4GB slim console , and i cant download the game ( 3.8 GB ) because i don't have enough space on my console , i tried to buy the 8GB USB flash drive but i couldn't find it in the stores , also i cant order it because the
game will be gone in two days .

i tried to get the game to be put on my download queue through the site but it keeps glitching out , and when i try to download it through the console itself it gives me the "there is not enough space , but you wont be charged again " . i just wanted to
know , does that mean that once i have chosen " Confirm Purchase " on the Xbox live marketplace the game is mine , and i can download its gone from the GwG ? or do i have to start the download / queue it from the site so that i could still download it later

Can't download item help?

It is possible that the reason it can't download the game is because of lack of memory space within the hard drive, check to ensure that you have sufficient memory space and try again.

It sounds like you may not have sufficient space on your PC, can you clarify how much free space you have? Keep in mind that content updates will increase the size of the game over time.

 

Go through with the purchase on the console, confirm it, and it will obviously fail because of insufficient space.

However, the game will have been added to your Download History (Settings>Account>Download History or
live.xbox.com/.../history) so you now own it and from there you can re-download at ANY time, at no charge, for instance when you have enough storage space to actually complete the download.

Well , I Tried confirming the purchase but it wont appear in the console history or the site history .

If i try to purchase it through the site it either gives me the glitch pop up or "Not available for consoles in your region" even though I've set my console region to United States .

why isn't there an option to just Purchase and download later ?

 

When you confirm the purchase, on the console, you should be shown the Download Queue and then a pop-up will say something like "insufficient space. do you wish to clear space now?"

At that point you can ignore that and the game should be 'purchased'.

Is that happening or something else?

On the PC, make sure you are looking at the correct store page. For instance, if you are in the US, the URL should contain "en-US" in it, the UK would be "en-GB" and so on. Make sure it's the right region you're trying to purchase from or you'll hit location
errors. Also try another web browser if you keep getting "uh oh... it appears you've found a glitch in the system" error messages.

Another question to consider if this is still not working: what location are you physically in, what region is your account/console set to, and what country is listed in your billing addresses on

commerce.microsoft.com These all need to match (you don't necessarily need to tell us what the region is, but they do need to match each other AND should be an Xbox-live supported region) or you will
not be able to download games like Dark Souls.

- Yes , usually it takes me to the download queue window and shows the download as pending but in this case it just gives me the " free up some space " window , probably because of the next point >

- I Checked the pages u linked to , and my region is set to united states on them and on the download page BUT it doesn't match my actual region , i had changed all the regions ( including the console region ) to united states because so little games are
available on my actual region . so that could be the problem , even though i was a gold member last month too and i managed to download Deadlight just fine ( maybe that game is available for me though )

still , i'm pretty sure that if i had enough space the game would've started downloading , or else it would've given me the " Not available in your region " window right away , right ?

 

With mismatched regions (particularly account region versus physical location), it will generally allow you to download an Arcade game (eg Deadlight) but will not allow you to download a full Game on Demand (eg Dark Souls). This, to me, sounds like it's
more than likely the reason it's throwing out errors.

 

for darksouls and other content (depending which ones)

they are region specific

this means if you have a PAL console you must download from a PAL region not an ntsc region

only a few games does this

console region cannot be changed as it is a hardwired into the console

however we always recommend you set your region to actually where you live or you will have problems downloading content

*not all content is affected but a lot of games for gold or triple AAA titles usually are region locked*

 

yes darksouls is PAL and NTSC specific so downloading a NTSC content from the US wont work on a PAL console (found on the back of your console)

there is no alternative

pal/ntsc content is based on the region of the account since PAL isn't needed in NTSC regions
