First off: don't tell imply to me that I should be grateful for having someone tell me pretty while they are forcing me to take it up the rear. Second: Microsoft didn't fix a problem that I created. They fixed a problem that they created. I have had 2 years
of successful renewals with prepaids. This topic is about people having similar problems or concerns with this situation.

We didn't ask for someone to be the M$ desk cheerleader and fluff us full of smoke.

By the way, amazon gave me the new code. Not Microsoft. As the "guy trying to help me out" stated-he wan't going to risk his outsourced in india job over a 12 month gold membership.

Amzon on the other hand sent me a new code through email in about an hour. Now that is how you treat paying customers.

Bambratt, they did help you out. Not much to complain about. You were overdue for something that renewed, you put a prepaid card on there, which stacked on top of the previous membership. They scrubbed the whole thing and gave you a new code for a fresh
12 Months. That means that you had about two months worth of free Xbox LIVE Gold. That's a pretty swell deal. Not much room for complaint. Why make life hard for the guy who was helping you out?

Jack, their prices are pretty fair already. $60 for the whole year is a lot less than what a lot of other online entertainment companies charge for memberships and subscriptions. And yes, sometimes you can find nice deals through third party sales and
promotions. Xbox also offers sales and promotions. It pays to keep an eye out all over the place.

In recap... using a credit card is completely at your discretion. I prefer to do so because it's much easier for me to not have to deal with prepaid codes every time I want to add something to my account. But you're not obligated to use a credit card if
you don't feel comfortable doing so. If you do use a credit card, know what you're purchasing, and what terms you're agreeing to. Automatic renewal is there for your convenience. Keep your account information up to date to ensure you always have easy access
to your account controls, so you can manage payment options, toggle automatic renewals, review transactions, and maintain security information any time you want to. If you do find yourself in a pickle, contact the folks at Customer Support, and be willing
to cooperate with them while they try to do everything in their power to help you achieve the best resolution. Don't let anxiety get the best of you. The information they ask for is necessary for them to access the tools they need to help you out.

You can always remove the credit card right after you get your free game. It's not like they really want it for anything. The way they had it set up previously, it was a Microsoft Points Purchase, for the price of 0pts. Now that there are no points, it's
a currency purchase. Clearly, the Xbox Account currency is not currently an available option, so it needs to be set up as a $0.00 credit card purchase. Alternatively, you could use PayPal. But yes, you need to put something on to get the free game. Beyond
merely authorizing your free purchase, they don't need your payment option for anything else. Doesn't take much to add a card, claim a free game, and remove a card. Or leave it on there until they're done giving free games.

You do not need a credit card on your account,i don`t have one and i can buy anything with my converted points.
