Games with Gold, do you need to claim?

Hello,

I've fairly new to the world of Xbox. I have Gamepass ultimate but I wonder if you need to "claim" the games with gold?

For some of them I can "Get" them in the store and then they start downloading and then I cancel the download, and I think those are ok. They also say "you own this" afterwards in the store.

But for some of the others I can just download them but I can't "claim" them. I'm used to Playstation plus where I need to claim the games each month. Is this not needed for Gamepass Ultimate? Will the system know when I had an account and just show me the
games that were free in this period to download even if it's a gold game of a year ago or something? Or do I need to download those games and keep them on my xbox until I play them, because I can't claim them after the period they were free?

Bleed 2 won't be free with Gold until the 16th which may be why it only says installed. Once it becomes free, you can claim it through the offer.

If you haven't claimed Little Nightmares, you'll want to before the free period ends.

You need to claim them yes, but you don't need to download them now. Cancelling is fine, you can download them later.

Thank you both. I've taken a screenshot of this month to confirm:

The third game says "owned", but it doesn't say so for the other 2. Even though the second one is "installed". So I guess for the second one I now "own" it too, it just doesn't say? And what about the first one? I should at least start the download to also
claim it?

As you need an active gold subscription to be able to play Games with Gold titles you have claimed.
