Games with Gold, a proper explanation PLEASE!

I'm quite sick of seeing loose and ambigious information about Games with Gold on Xbox One. So, for once and for all, could someone please answer these questions in plain and simple terms:

1)When exactly does the current two Games available for the GwG promotion, end? (I've seen dates that show Halo Spartan Assult ends in July, but Max: The Curse of Brotherhood ends in August)

2)What happens when these two games are swapped out for two new games on the GwG promotion. Do they revert back to Purchase Only, even if they have been downloaded by Gold subscribers?

3)If my Gold subscription ends this week, I understand that I wont be able to play the games for free after this. However, If I re-subscribe to Gold in August, will the current GwG once again be available to me to play for free?

I have the same problem since launch. And no fix or explanation or even a proper apology. Please HELP

please be a little more specific about the issue in order to get proper help.

Which game are you talking about? Was that a game including Games with Gold promo? Have you made the purchase with your main account which has the Gold subscription?

My understanding is it works like PS+ as in the games are yours to play for free when you are a Gold member. If your membership lapses then you can't play them without buying but as soon as you reactivate Gold they are yours again.

Games should be changed every month but I'm not 100% on that.

When games change, previous ones you have downloaded will still remain free. Even if you delete you can re-download as long as you are Gold.

 

1) I'm not sure when the promotion ends. Does it matter? Download the games while they are available and be done with it.

2) This is pretty basic common sense. Once you download the game, it's yours as long as you're gold. Whatever free game they put out next is irrelevant.

3) You downloaded the game. It's on your hard drive. They don't delete the game once you go silver. It's still there. You just don't meet the requirements to play it. If and when you do meet the requirements, you can play it once again.

 

The promotion will continue indefinitely, according to the developers at Microsoft. Although this may not mean forever, it's a good indication that it will last a very long time.

Two games will release each month. If it's similar to the Xbox 360 version, that'll be 1 game on the 1st of each month and the 2nd on the 15th of each month (although this has not necessarily been confirmed for the Xbox One since both Halo Spartan Assault
and Max The Curse of Brotherhood released at the same time this past month).

The 2 games will only be free until the next free game releases. After that, they go back to their normal price range, so get them while you can.

If you get a free game in this fashion, you will only be able to play it for as long as you have a Gold subscription. If you lose access to your subscription, you will lose access to your free games until you renew your Gold subscription.

 

1) Download them soon as you see them.... why ponder? Who cares when they expire.... the price is right....

3) It's June..... why would you renew in August??? Current means "current".... August isn't current back in June....

 

Major Nelson gave a pretty handy tip on one of his recent podcasts. If you're planning on upgrading to the One and you have gold on the 360, go to xbox.com and purchase the free gwg for the Xbox One. Then when you upgrade to the One you'll have free games
ready to play!

I thought that was really decent of Major to give out that info, and yet another reason why I prefer Xbox.

I do this anyway. I don't play my 360 nearly as much as I want to due to lack of space but I have a bunch of games ready to play when I get round to it.
