    Games with Gold 360 games to Xbox One


    If I own an Xbox one and have a gold membership can I download the free game for gold that is for the Xbox 360? This month it is the Kane and Lynch 2 game and I think I might not understand if I can download that for free onto my xbox one. I keep getting
    error messages and things saying I need to buy it and this and that but I think I am doing something wrong. Can anyone send me in the right direction if I am able to redeem the free 360 game on my xbox one with the games for gold? (It says it needs my credit
    card information and all the other titles haven't asked for that but none of them have been the free 360 games.) Thank you

    Cannot purchase "free" 360 games on Xbox one or Xbox.com

    It has always been like that not unless there will be an update regarding in redeeming Xbox 360 games with gold on the website. Xbox 360 marketplace has a different structure than on Xbox One Store. Xbox 360 games with gold on the website will need a payment
    method. In Xbox 360 console, you won't need one. Currently, you can't redeem Xbox 360 games with gold using Xbox One console and still under progress about redeeming Xbox 360 games with gold on Xbox One console. Either get the games using an Xbox 360 console,
    or get the games on the website with a payment method.

    In Summary

    • Both Xbox one and Xbox 360 games need to be download to play
    • Xbox 360 - The Game with Gold games belong to you once you get it, you can continue to play them even when your gold membership expires
    • Xbox One - You will require gold membership to play the games. Once your gold membership expires, you lose access to all your Game with Gold free games

    Yes, you can download the 360 games with gold games since they are backwards compatible. You do need either a credit card or PayPal on file in order to download them because the 360 store is set up differently than the One store.

    If anyone has Xbox 360 and see the 'games with gold' hyperlink on front page then please share a photo.

    Note do not confuse what was there 2 years ago, today 'games with gold' is not on front page on Xbox 360

    If you do get an Xbox Live Gold membership for your Xbox 360 don't forget each month to redeem the Games WIth Gold games for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, this way if you do purchase an Xbox One at a later stage as long as you still have an active Gold
    subscription the Xbox One games will be available for you to download and play in addition to the Xbox 360 games.

    When Xbox games with gold existed u get Xbox 360 games free and Xbox one games free. The Xbox one games u claim for free are only free with a gold subscription when it was gold. Now it's gamepass core. But when Xbox games with gold was a thing the Xbox 360 games u get for free are permanent. But Xbox one games are not. U have to keep ur gamepass core to have access to your free to play Xbox one games with gamepass core that u claimed with gold back then.
