Games with disc and download

Hi, maybe my question can seem stupid but... if I buy a game in a store (so I have the disc) can I also download that game by xbox store to have a digital copy?

problem with Mass Effect 3 disks

All you should need to do with Mass Effect 3 is put the first disc in the console and it will then download the full game from Microsoft. With backwards compatible games when you put the game disc in it will then downloads the emulated version of the game
to your console (but the disc is still required to allow you to play the game).

 

Hi! You can have a digital version as well, although you would have to pay for that one as well.

 

I wish! Unfortunately its an exclusive purchase, so physical doesn't yield you the digital copy as well. This is something that I feel should be changed and you may want to consider voicing your feedback to MS directly on it

You can get a digital copy too but not for free. Although, Minecraft once provided free digital copies for everyone who owned a disc.

you can buy for the digital and the disc although you will be paying for roughly the same amount. What I would do is buy a disc copy first, wait for digital to go on sale then buy digital and sell disc copy or keep it as a back up.

You can't, you can either have Digital or Physical. You could buy Digital, but if you have the game already there isn't much point.

 

even with a disc the game is downloaded to your console. It is really more of what holds the license. In the case of a disc copy, you have to have the disc in the console to maintain the license, otherwise the title will not launch. If you buy the digital
copy of the game, you can play the title without this disc inserted, but somewhat negates the purpose of buying the disc.

 

Not a stupid question, but unfortunately you need to purchase that game digitally if you want to have both physical (disc) and digital copies.

If you are a gold member then some of the games you own on disc may come up in the Games With Gold offers, so you can redeem those for free, in order to have a digital copy. (That's what I did with Forza Motorsport 5, For Honor and Forza Horizon 2, so that
I don't have insert my disc every time i want to play one of those games) You can also check out
game pass, it offers the full digital version of over 100 games for one low monthly price. There might be some games on game pass that you own on disc, and it's also a great way to check
out new titles.
