Games unable to update

Oh, you can try installing one game on your internal storage and see if it updates. I'm afraid in most cases, it has something to do with your external hard drive.

Do you have an external hard drive plugged in to the console right now?

If yes, can you unplug it and Please Turn off console > (press and hold power button for 10 seconds) unplug everything from the console > wait for 2 minutes and plug everything back > Turn On the console.

Once done, please check if the issue still persist while the external hard drive is unplugged.

What specifically happens when you try to update your games? Are you able to update any games or is this affecting all games? If it's only specific ones, can you list them all for me please? Is your Xbox One console in "Instant On" or "Energy Saver" mode? And
are your games on the internal hard drive or an external hard drive?

I can see that you mention you've tried a lot of troubleshooting steps already, which is good. Have you tried uninstalling a game and reinstalling to see if you're able to update the game then? I recognize that is not an ideal situation however it is worth
trying. If that doesn't work, the next thing I'd recommend you try is a >>factory reset<< of your console while
keeping your games and apps.

Thanks Pam, your solution partially solved the issue, however all of the games I'm attempting to update are stored in my external hard drive and therefor I can not update them. I haven't had a problem with my hard drive up until now if the issue is directly linked.

Same issue with Shadows of Mordor. Haven't tried other games. The status update does not reflect unable to use games. Just says unable to purchase. They suffered from a DDoS attack yesterday. Would be nice for a more thorough status update.
