games stop installing, offline from disc

okay so i have a problem. a fairly large problem.

two games so far have been unable to re-install either online or off.

Fallout 4 will begin installing and i can hear, i believe the hard drive, spinning away as the game is installed, then, it stops, everything goes silent and installation stopped pops up on my dash.

i've tried every solution i could find on here. i contacted microsoft support and was instructed through resetting my xbox, trying to install. setting my xbox to offline, trying to install. repeating both of these. clearing saved data and persistent storage
each time.

nothing.

it also always stops at the same point.

if installed offline it stops perfectly at 20.85 GB of 35.55 GB

if installed online with the patch at the same time;

Disc 18.66 GB of 33.33 GB

Network 2.28 GB of 2.28 GB (it initially says of 2.33 GB but changes)

or 20.94 GB incredibly close to the same amount from the disc offline.

Just Cause 3 which i un-installed at the request of a support chat now suffers the same problem.

yes i have enough space, around 450 GB left.

while looking on youtube for an actual solution i found something odd. videos from over a year ago, mostly titled things like "how to fix installation stop error" or similar, had a decent amount of recent comments complaining about the same thing that's
happened to me, not what the videos aim to fix.

the videos aren't important. the number of recent comments complaining about this issue are.

"game stopped installing at xx% and i can't fix it".

there is a problem here.

Microsoft support couldn't help. best suggestion was sending my console for repair.

if anyone here knows how to fix this please tell me and please tell others and if you have any authority or a louder voice than mine, tell Microsoft.

Hi there, you can most certainly select to install the update while the game itself is still installing, I believe what happens though is it will immediately start the download of the update and stop installing from the disc so sometimes to make it a faster
process, installing the game while offline and then the updates after the game is finished installing offline will be the fastest way to get gaming.

Though to answer your questions, it won't stuff anything up installing the update while the game is still installing, might just make it a little slower.

Appear offline when installing from disc and that will speed up the process
