Games saying "Ready To Start" when they really arent.

The example today is Forza Horizon 4.

I downloaded the update and got to 70.1% and it said "Ready To Start". So I click on the icon, game loads up into start screen, click "A" to continue and the same thing that is happening to soooooo many games happens....

A screen saying "Installing Please Wait".

Even tho the in-game screen it says it's 100%.

So I wait til about 82.9% and try it again.

Same thing! Starts up, then gives the installing screen again.

If the game is not ready to start when Xbox says it is, can we pleeeease get rid of this garbage. It's almost like preordering a game for early release, getting the game 4 days early, but not being able to play it til global release date....

Rewards Credits not deposited

I have 50750 credits saying they are ready to be deposited but they still arent deposited and its the 15th. can someone with the rewards team push those through for me i need those as soon as possible so i can get a new game for my youtube channel.

This is a difficult question to answer because of the "Ready to Start" situation varies from game to game and what the developers decide as "Ready to Start".

According to Xbox, this is their explanation:

Installing Games on Xbox One

Do I need to install the entire game to my hard drive before I can play it?

No. Some Xbox One games are pretty large, and installing the entire game, especially if you’re downloading it, can take a while. You can start any game before the installation is complete, though not all game
features will be available. If you watch the download in the Queue or Games section of My games & apps, "Downloading" changes to "Ready to start" when it's available to play.

I would say this works better for some games than others. From my experience games like Halo have a Campaign and Multiplayer section. Typically the Campaign downloads first and you can start playing it while
the multiplayer is installing.

That's just it tho, it says "some features won't be available" but it doesn't say anything about "nothing will be available".

Make it like halo, once the campaign is installed, say ready to start. For smite, don't say ready to start until players can go into training matches offline. For Forza, allow atleast half the map to be playable before being "able to start".

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with that.

When you are having any kind of installation issues with digital games, then I would first check out our support page entitled

Troubleshoot game or app installation problems on Xbox One to see if that helps with the problem.

If you are still having problems after that though, then I would suggest trying a soft reset of your console.

It's a reset of your console back to factory settings but one that does not uninstall any of your games or apps and is a really good troubleshooting step for most issues.

Just make sure that before you go ahead with it, that you do know all of the sign-in information for any/all of your accounts(asthey
will be removed) and have easy access to your internet network.

Also make sure that you select the option denoted
reset and keep my games and apps.

I agree that Ready to Start really hasn’t been implemented very well. I think I remember reading it was up to the developers on how it was implemented. I fully believe the new Fast Start feature which is spearheaded by MS themselves will eventually take
over for RtS and will work much better.

I could be misinterpreting but you're referring to being unable to launch a game you already have installed, but are currently updating, yes?

I believe the "Ready to Launch" phrase only applies to game installations as updates will not allow games to play (especially online) until they are completed.

 

For the certain game I'm talking about (Forza Horizon 4) I'm totally able to start the game. I even press "A" after the title screen, but after that its not "ready to play" cause I'm halted by a install that was at 100% in game, but 70.1% done Xbox wise.

I understand your frustration. I experience it as well. I believe the implementation and execution can be improved. We need developers to communicate more with Microsoft and players to indicate what is considered "Ready to Start". For most games, "Ready
to start" simply means loading the start menu for a game from my experience and nothing further. We need to know what "Ready to Start" means for each game. Hopefully, this system is better implemented in the feature.

It has always said ready to start even though they never are. They should get rid of it or have it work properly.

 

It's a new feature so it's reasonable encounter some problems...but you're right, this things have to come when are ready and tested.
