Games running on their Real Resolution

Hi, I just got the Xbox One a few days ago and so far, I'm loving it (minus the abysmal download times), and I have a question for you guys. How do I get games to run on their real resolution, I don't want upscaling 1080p or downscaling 720p, I want
games to run on their regular resolution (for example, Ryse Son of Rome, AC Unity/Black Flag on 900p).

    :)

Another Horrible response from Phil Spencer....

If the source is true. They mean the trailer was captured in real time while the game engine was running at 1080p at 60fps. With the recording software set at a capture resolution of 1080p for video playback.

    UHD set up?

"Most games are not even on 1080p yet but rather on 900p."

Isn't that to do with the game running natively, not the display resolution?

The upscaling is in the game's code so I doubt you can manipulate it unless it came as a result of un update/patch then you could decline that but otherwise it is as is.

Actually thats incorrect, its not the game code that does the upscalling, it's the console itself that does the upscalling that's the way they designed the system it only outputs at 720/1080p, thats also the reason why you cant use the X1 on a 1080i only
screen because it does not support it. this feature cannot be changed by the user at the moment sorry to say OP.

The download times are slow, you can speed up the disc install speed a bit though, go to network settings and take the console offline while installing a disc, or take out the lan cable if relevant, that way the game does not install and update at the same
    time,

    -

As for res, my xbox is set to 1080p, and it's fine.

OP...... download times is not a X1 issue, it's a internet signal strength issue......

This is a very useful tip. I never really do this because I am never in a hurry to play. But it does help. And I am not dogging the Xbox One as I really enjoy this system. However, it can be slow. My internet is plenty fast enough and the Xbox One downloads
slower than anything that I have hooked up. Even when the system is the only thing downloading it is a little slow compared. Outside of the downloads (honestly not terribly bad speeds) the other online functionality is fast and works great.

What is your screens resolution? That is the key for obvious reasons

Games running on their Real Resolution

You need to get a tardis and travel back in time to a day and age when they did TV's that had 900p as their native display.

Never really understood the 1080p crowd, stuck in 2012 wishing that we could run games as they ran back then.

I couldn't run something in 1080p if I wanted to as my TV, like everyone else's, automatically upscales to a higher resolution.

  14. Native resolution is the key that I don't think OP understands.

If you want any game to display in its true resolution, whether it's 720p, 900p, 1080p, etc. then the source of the video signal has to match up with the native resolution of the display.

I don't recall any TV's ever having 900p? The 'original' TV displays had 480i, if memory serves. Then we had 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and now (as TV goes) we're seeing 4k.

Even the XB1 upscales and if it didn't, your TV would scale to the setting you choose (and I've never heard of 900p being a choice).

In short, you can't see a game in 900p unless the XB1 had a 900p output resolution and your TV had a 900p native resolution. Not happening, to the best of my knowledge.
