Games Not Starting (although apps work fine)

Hello,

I'm having a problem where when I start a game (I've tried Rock Band 4, Grand Theft Auto V, and Halo 5) the title screen will open then after a few seconds I will be returned to the home menu. Meanwhile downloaded apps, and even lightweight games that I've
downloaded (Monopoly, Child of Light, Jackbox Party Pack) work normally. It's only the disc based games that suddenly won't work.

So far I have:

-Performed a "hard" rest both by pressing the power button for 10 seconds until the system shut down, as well as unplugging the machine from the power adapter for 5 minutes. Neither fixed the issue.

-Uninstalled and reinstalled the affected games - no effect.

-Reset the console, by going into Settings>System>Console Info & Updates>Reset Console>Reset and keep my games & apps. When the system reset the problem persisted so I even tried the reset and remove everything option, and after installing everything once
again the games still will not start.

-I have even tried resetting the console, then never logging into xbox live at all and installing and running a single game - it still returns to the home screen after the title screen.

Any ideas? I've tried everything that I could find mentioned on various forums to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Just in case it matters - I'm using a single standard wireless controller, do not have a Kinect, nor do I have any other devices or accessories plugged into the xbox except for the power, hdmi, and ethernet cables.

Does not work Xbox Live

 

Xbox One doesn't recognize external HDD anymore.

I am having similiar issues with USB 3.0 HDD support from Xbone.

The system software (i.e. latest May 2015 update) still does not resolve the

constant not able to move games or apps to it although it formattted fine with Xbone.

Macs and PCs work fine with the USB 3.0 HDD.

Anyways, lots of DRM issues from my experience.

 

It sounds like you need to place the disc in the disc drive before starting the game.

(I'm assuming you have all discs, so if so, you need to have the disc in before trying to start the game.)

Part 2 is this....the first three games you listed all have HUGE download updates. When you start the game, with the disc in, while connected to xbox live, you will need to complete 100% of all updates specific to the game in the disc drive.

I do believe that will resolve this but depending upon your connection speed, this could take minutes, hours or a day+

 

Hello, if you take the Xbox offline do those disc based games then work ok ?

I sometimes have issues with disc based games not loading and what I tend to do is pop the disc into the drive but gently hold the disc preventing the drive from taking the disc in for just a second and then let go of the disc.
