Games not installing from disc or Xbox store (xbox one)

since 2 weeks ago I can't install games from disc or install games from xbox store.

Ive tried everything from hard reset to turning the internet off and then installing, nothing works.

It either goes to 100% and then says instillation stopped or it goes to 17% and says instilation stopped.

I haven't done anything to the xbox and there are no updates or anything like that.

I have 200gb left and the internet is working. I can search the internet on my Xbox no problem.

If anyone can help me i would really appreciate it as I don't want to have to buy another xbox.

Hey LazyBunny54156! It can depend if you're installing from a disc or digitally. If its from a disc, try out the steps in the installing from a

disc error page. If it's a digital game, the troubleshooting steps in the
game or app installation error page. Post back and let us know how it goes!

have you deleted your profile and clear mac address and make home console if so sounds like bad hard drive try external hard drive.good luck

Hello,

I've not cleared the Mac address before but hear it can work. here are the steps:

1. Press the Menu button on your Xbox One controller, and then select Settings.

2. Select Network.

3. Select Advanced settings.

4. Select IP settings, then select Automatic.

5. Select DNS settings, then select Automatic.

6. Select Alternate MAC address, then select Clear.

7. Select Restart.

I am having the exact same problem. I've been trying to download smite and no matter what I do it never starts installing. It always says installation stopped. Please Microsoft what do I do to fix this console ruining problem.

like for some reason, I can’t play Xbox one game discs cuss they won’t install. I can only install and play Xbox 360 game discs and games that have been installed from the store.

To explain a bit why that won't work:

The Xbox One doesn't understand the "language" in which the Xbox 360 games are stored on disc or USB. The disc for physical copies is just a "proof of purchase" for the Xbox One, and the actual code for running the game on the Xbox One is downloaded from
the Xbox Marketplace in a "translated" language the Xbox One can understand.

If you installed a game from disc on an USB drive, it's missing the "proof of purchase" license the disc would provide.

If it were a digital download game, it would show up under Ready to Install in your account's Games and Apps, and you could simply download it for free, as the "proof of purchase" for a digital download game is stored in your account.

However without a disc, there is no proof of purchase, and you can't install the game on the Xbox One.

Without being pedantic, technically speaking there is no such thing as a 'digital version' of an Xbox One game. Both the disc and the digital versions are the same. What you buy is a digital license. Of course, once you have the license you won't need
the disc.

If you borrowed your friends game on disc, installed it, then decided you also wanted this game, you just buy it from the Xbox Store. As you've already installed the game from disc you won't need to download anything, other than any updates as normal.

The Xbox 360 had separate digital and disc based games, the Xbox One does not.

What do you mean by the Xbox One does not have any digital version of games? Everything stored on the Xbox One is digital. On the non-disc based games the license is stored on the HDD while on the disc based games the license is stored on the disc.

Once you put the disc in go to the store on the xbox one and search for the game and see if it gives you an option to install from there.

Found a similar fix!!!

1) uninstall Blu-ray app

2) when you get the installation stopped error go to the game in the xbox store. A button should say "install" in the xbox store

3) remove your disc and immediately click the install button in the xbox store. This will download the game instead of installation it from the disc.

Takes much longer but worked for me.
