Games From Xbox App on PC Crashing When Joining Multiplayer Session

This can be a bit odd, but try this:

Open the Control Panel in Windows.

After opening the control panel, set the “View by” on the top-right corner to “Large icons“.

Click on the “Network and Sharing Center” option.

Here, click on the “Change adapter settings” link on the left panel.

Now, right-click on the active network adapter and select “Properties“.

Go to the “Networking” tab.

Here, uncheck the “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” option.

Click on the “Ok” button to save changes.

Then close all the windows, restart your PC and try again

If maybe that doesn't work, try using a custom DNS address and try again (use both Google and Cloudflare DNS)

I tried this earlier, via multiplayer hosted session and didn't unlock for me still either. Going to keep trying this in the next couple of days but I'm thinking it's just bugged like the daily "play game pass game" one.

did you create or join a multiplayer session?

you have to be the host to get it to work.

I just got the quest reward from creating a MP session, completing the first few courses then crashing until the session ended.

if you have done that then hopefully its just a bit laggy and it will sort itself out soon

The best way to get into the multiplayer game is to go to single player first then to multiplayer private. Once in private session, transport to Mexico then join regular multiplayer. One of the reasons it is difficult to fix the game is because the sessions
keep getting corrupted when people transfer to new sessions after being in a infected session. If you see someone getting a lot of xp points at one of the hideouts you need to kick them. You can also try starting a private session then invite others to your
session but have them leave the game first then when they join your session they restart their game fresh. I cannot guarantee it will work all the time, but it will sometimes. You can also go to public sessions then shut your game off. Restart your game in
a private session and send invites with those instructions to your recent players list. Just don't let anyone into your session straight from a public free roam. That should keep your session clean and fun. Good luck and hope to see you all there. I love this

Can you try to uninstall the app from his Ipad, enable the "Join multiplayer games" setting and download it from the App Store again please?

It is possible that the game is not updating properly the settings, and thus crashing.

Please update us on the issue.

Try to make a party on the Xbox app and then launch the game, one will join a session and in the pause menu instead of the invite friends option it will be changed to join friend's Gamertag, selecting it will join your friend's session
