Games from external hard drive on PC Game Pass

I recently bought a 2TB external hard drive so that I could download games from PC Game Pass on Xbox to play on my laptop. All was going fine at first, the games were playable. Didn't really have any issues that I couldn't figure out. But somehow, all of a sudden, there are a couple of games that won't even load up. I click on them from my home screen and the picture flashes and fails to run the program. I want to be able to play these games, but they aren't working anymore, and I need to know if there is anything I can do to get them back up and running.

This sounds like it's detecting the games from games pass is that from game pass that are installed on your external hard drive?.

Game Pass games use protected folders, and if format Windows, it no longer recognizes any game even if it is on another external hard drive or hard drive. If you install it on a Windows or PC you don't recognize any of the games.

Do other games you own that aren't from game pass have the same problem? Do you have an external hard drive. If a game I install to my external hard drive is very laggy I will move it to my internal hard drive which usually fixes the problem.

I understand that some games (not all) you have downloaded from the Xbox App to your external HD are not working anymore. They don't even load. Is that correct?

If so, I would first suggest you to try to reinstall the gaming services since this is not an issue that is happening with all games from your external HD.

- Go to Start > Search for PowerShell > Right click > Run as administrator.

- In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

- In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

- Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.

Also, please do these steps:

- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Microsoft Store > Advanced options > Reset.

- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Xbox App > Advanced options > Reset.

- Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Xbox networking > See if your connection test shows Open NAT and connected to server. If you receive any error, please let me know.

- Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Game mode > Set if OFF.

- Press the Windows Key + R. Type WSReset.exe and press Enter.

- Restart your computer. Open the Microsoft store and sign in with your account. Then, open the Xbox App and sign in with the same account.

See if this works and please let me know.

Hi, sorry for that issue, the problem is the external hard drive, for some reason (I don't know why), the games that require Administrator approval have issue on external drive.

Thanks for the answer. External hard drive it is not the problem in my case. While trying to find a solution to this Xbox Game pass for PC / Windows Store error I did reinstall Windows 10 on my iMac's internal hard drive. The problem with error 0x8007001f
persists even when Windows 10 is installed on the internal hard drive.
