Games for Windows Marketplace Client doesn't connect

Every time I launch Games for Windows Marketplace Client it says "Connection error, Can't start the program. There may be a problem with your Internet connection or the LIVE service"

Obviously my connection is fine, what should I do?

Also I like that there is apparently no subforum for windows live on windows, only phones, 360 and one. Amazing.

Games for Windows Marketplace.

Sometimes this problem is caused by corrupted files or impending updates. Try to delete the Windows Marketplace application, clear your system's cache and download the application again. This will get rid of the corrupted files so the update can be complete
enabling the game download.

Problem with re-downloading a Game

Hello

I've bought Flight Simulator X 2 monthes ago but yesterday when I installed Windows 8 in my PC it was gone.

I got the Games for Windows Marketplace client but it doesn't shows my game so I could re-download it.

I've already tried the support section for this case but it still doesn't works.

So how can I re-download it?

 

After uninstalling it and redownloading, it now asks me to download
www.microsoft.com/.../confirmation.aspx during the install phase.

So I download /that/, and after running it does... Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

 

Apparently the fix is to first install
windows.microsoft.com/.../essentials

By the way, this is all just so I can play a Steam game, I have absolutely no interest in using all these weird programs.

 

Alright, here's the solution:

First, uninstall all the windows crap you installed trying to fix this.

Second, Install GFWL (in W7 compatability + as admin) using the installer here
www.xbox.com/.../DownloadClient

Third, Install Sign-in Assistant (in W7 compataiblity + as admin) from here
www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx
