Games For Windows Live - Network Adapter

GFWL is notorious for being the buggiest piece of multiplayer connection software, but those of us with GTA IV are stuck with it.

On my new MSI gaming laptop I have installed my copy of GTA IV, so I can use it when I'm away from my desktop.

However, while singleplayer works perfectly fine, multiplayer is inaccessible to me which is the only reason I play the game (LCPDFR clan use).

When trying to login to my GFWL account and download my profile, I am immediately given the "Live service not reachable, if you're using PPP make sure you're connected first, yadda yadda..."

When I click on "Network Status" it appears that nothing is enabled, my network adapter is listed as "Not enabled" and my IP is listed as "0.0.0.0" etc.

My network adapter is enabled as I have Teamspeak 3 open and connected to a non-local server.

I've tried installing and reinstalling over and over, but to no avail.

I've also tried contacting Microsoft "chat with us" support, but the area to fill in my name was grayed out, so I can't access it.

    Please help!

Updated drivers for the wireless adapter for Windows 10 available on Windows Update

In addition drivers for the wireless network adapter for Windows 7,8 and 8.1 have been released. These do NOT support audio, peripheral devices or firmware update as on Windows 10.

It is 10am 27th of October - where is the promised driver and the promised Xbox Accessories App?

    "You must update the drivers:

Click "Network Adapter" to expand the menu and right-click "Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows" > Update Driver Software > Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software"

This fixed the audio issue I was having with the controller connected via the Wireless Adapter (it worked via USB but not wirelessly until I manually updated said network adapter driver). Thanks!

Need Help Connecting to live through pc?

Hey there, you can create a network bridge following the steps at this link under "Create a Network Bridge Connection"

    support.xbox.com/.../win-computer

    -

To use a network bridge connection, you must have the following though:

•A computer with two network adapters

•Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Note The Windows 7 Starter edition does not support this feature.

    •High-speed Internet access

    •A standard Ethernet cable

Can't find any drivers on my PC for Xbox One Wireless Adapter

    Hi XBF Brad A,

Thanks for the link, but I'm slightly confused. In the troubleshoot guild, I'm advised to look for the "Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows" in the "Network adapters" section of Device Manager.

However when I do this I can't find nothing titled "Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows".

Should this be in "Network adapters" and is the reason why my Xbox Wireless Adapter working. If so how do I re-install this driver/

    Teredo is unable to qualify

Teredo is a networking protocol that’s used to establish secure communications between clients and servers, and to facilitate connectivity between devices behind routers that use network address translation
    (NAT).

Failure to obtain a Teredo IP address can occur when there’s an issue with your Teredo adapter, when a device on your network is blocking the Teredo protocol. Without a Teredo IP address, you’ll be
unable to use party chat or do multiplayer gaming on Xbox Live.

Check to see if Teredo connectivity is blocked when a VPN client is connected, or while a VPN network adapter is installed

Some VPN clients will disable Teredo connectivity while the VPN client is connected, and some VPN clients that install a network adapter that will disable Teredo until the VPN adapter is removed. If you’ve
installed a VPN client and Teredo is still disabled even while the VPN client is disconnected, check to see if you have a network adapter named
    TAP-Windows Adapter V9 installed:

    1. Right-click the Start icon, and then select Device Manager.
    2. Select View > Show Hidden Devices.
    3. Select Network Adapters.
    4. Identify any adapters that have a name like TAP-Windows Adapter V9. Right-click the adapter name, and then select
      Uninstall.
Note While uninstalling the VPN network adapter should unblock Teredo connectivity, this will also likely cause issues with the VPN client software. If you still require VPN functionality along with Teredo support, refer to the support documentation
      for the VPN client.

How to connect old Xbox One controller with Windows Adapter

    Hi Common!

Make sure that you follow the steps correctly here on this link https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/...

If it's still doesn't connect, let's try to reinstall your wireless adapter's driver. Make sure to try different USB ports on your PC.

    Go to Device Manager.
Locate Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section.
Select Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows to bring up the Properties window.
    Select the Driver tab.
On the Driver tab, select Uninstall or Uninstall Device (depending on your version of Windows).
On the confirmation window, check the Delete the driver software for this device box.
Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows and reboot your Windows device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adaptor.

cant login to minecraft launcher.so when i login it ives me an error saying you'll need internet for this, 0x800704cf. eventhough i am connected to the internet

Do you have another PC where you can try signing in your profile so we can isolate if it's specifically happening on your PC? This error might come from a service that’s not part of Xbox Live Core Services. Usually these resolve themselves in time so you can try again later or try reinstalling the network adapter in case it’s corrupted and causes the 0x800704cf error.

Press the Windows logo key and R at the same time to open the Run box. Then, type devmgmt.msc and click OK. Select the View tab, and click Show hidden devices. Double-click Network adapters to view all the devices under this category. 4) Right-click a device and click Uninstall device. Please delete all the devices one by one under Network adapters then restart your machine, and Windows will automatically reinstall the network adapters.
