  1. Games for older players

I'm new to gaming consoles as I bought my first XBox One last November at the age of 57. I've played several PC games over the years but I wouldn't describe myself as a gamer. I been watching the E3 broadcast (some really nice announcements about the controller
with audio jack, backward compatibility and Windows 10) but I haven't heard anything about new games that I find exciting. I would so much enjoy beautiful open world games as, for instance, Assassin's Creed - Black Flag. Most of the actual and future games
are so dark with no real stories and a lots of killing & combats. I wish for open-world games with some action/combat/killing skills in worlds with nice scenery, enigma & puzzle solving. I might be wrong but I'm quite sure there is a clientele for such games.

    :)

    Older Games?

I really wish a game like cooker could be made for the Xbox one but I think something like would not happen. Another game that I would like would be bomberman that was also a good game.

Dark souls would be perfect for you. Beautiful worlds, though not entirely open world, and not linear. Does have action/combat/killing and your skills at the game, not so much the in game stats, matter. Dark Souls is a masterpiece and a juggernaut of a game.
It's hard and does not hold your hand, however it is the most satisfying and thrilling game I have played.

And to everyone who sees this: Do me a favor, vote for Dark souls for the backwards compatibility list! Games for older players ;) !

Xbox 360 games will soon be backwards compatible, so if you're interested in trying out some, Kameo would be a good choice from what you described. The world is not as dark and does have some challenges that make the game worth playing.

  6. Thanks for these tips about Dark Soul & Kameo. I just watched a few gameplay on YouTube and they both look interesting. Have to wait for both games to be playable on XBox One. I realize that many gamers are looking for fast pace action requiring skills
and perfect reflex. For example, Ori and the Blind Forest is a beautiful game but it's way too hard for me (can't achieve more than 23%). In many ways, Assassin's Creed - Black Flag was perfect for me (94% of completion) and it was so delightful to play, sail,
dive, swim & combat in such sunny & green decors.

  7. If you have problems with reflexes, I would stay away from driving games. I let my mom play a driving game a while back and she couldn't control it for anything. Her car was on everything but the road.

Being of approximately the same vintage, I too have a devil of a time thinking of myself as a gamer. I just happen to dig video games. Games for older players ;)

I was just going to add that since you enjoy Black Flag, you might look into Assassin's Creed Unity. Very different environment from Black Flag (Paris late 1700s), but a beautiful game in its own right. The puzzle missions are a little different in each
iteration of the Assassin's Creed games, which I like.

From the description of the games you're looking for, you might also research Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for the Xbox One (I played the 360 version, which was great) and Far Cry 4 (haven't played yet but loved Far Cry 3, which had an amazing and huge
    open world).

  9. Driving games seem to be really fun and challenging. I've tried Forza with the controller (with so-so results) but I'm pretty sure using a steering wheel would make this very enjoyable. Trial Fusion is also nice. The feel of each bike is nicely rendered
& the physics involved quite challenging.

Yes, AC Unity is the next game I'll be playing. The reconstitution of Paris is indeed very impressive but just can't say how much I'll miss the sunshine, harbors, ocean and beaches of Black Flag.

As for Tomb Raider & Far Cry 4, I'm still hesitating. I'll need to watch more gameplay to get the feeling of these games.

    X1: Elder Scrolls Online

360's to hope for backwards compat:

Kingdoms of Amalur (not likely since the dev has to decide if it's going to be BC, and they're out of bus)

    Dragon's Dogma

While I'm not *that* old...yet.... a couple games you may be interested in: Civilization Revolution & the Tropico games. Both of those are relaxing games, but are of the strategy genre.

Elder Scrolls Online was a good suggestion.

Elder Scrolls offers a slow pace as well as staying interesting. Plus with the online feature you can meet up with other community members. Not just for your age, but also new to gaming like yourself. This way you gain new pals and skill up together.

What I would suggest is finding out what games look interesting to you and then going to the official game website. As much as I love the Xbox, this place has been dead the last 4 years. Going to the official sites always gets you better feedback as well
    as interesting game meetups.

    The Witcher 3 is awesome.

Dark Souls is good and 1 of my favorite games, but it is kind of difficult so I'm not sure you will like it.
