game for gold hand of fate is asking for my credit card even tho its free for gold member with i am if its free then why do i have to add a card to buy a $0.00 game this happened with another game for gold it got fixed and befor you say just download
it off the website i cant my account wont let me

For websites purchases you must have a valid payment options for 360gsmes regardless if it's games with gold or paid games

For games with gold as long as your account is actual gold it still still be free

 

I have the same thing. You also get this if you try to download games with gold xbox 360 titles that are supposed to run on the xbox one and are supposed to be free. Microsoft just wants all of our credit cards on file in the hopes that we will then purchase
games, tv shows, movies, etc. What they are doing is LYING!! It is FALSE ADVERTISING to say something is free then ask for a credit card. I paid good money for a 1 year gold membership. So far I have missed all of the supposed-to-be free xbox 360 games because
I don't want to use my credit card and have it on file. RIPOFF!! If you don't change this Microsoft then I will cancel my gold membership and probably sell my xbox one. Then I will buy a PS4. I am sick of this. I have talked to a dozen of your support people,
there is no fix.

First off, why do I need a credit card for 360 games with gold when they are supposed to be free?

Secondly, my gold account is fine yet the latest free game with gold (Hand of Fate) asks for a credit card. Is this a screw up or something new and permanent?

Please do not be misunderstood when the system asked for your credit card while the game is free that is under the Games with Gold feature. The only reason why the system is asking you this payment instrument is for verification procedure. If you have an
Xbox 360 console and the system is asking you to add a card, try instead to update your billing information. For most cases though, if you are going to download a free game for Xbox 360 using the console, it should not ask you to put a credit card first. You
will only be able to download free games using the Xbox website if the game is for Xbox One.

 

I love how I try to download a 360 game off the website to my One but it asks for my credit card info, which I do not have one, I might add. This really kills my enthusiasm about Microsoft's way of doing things. I'm not going to get a credit card just to
get a free Xbox 360 game, that is just silly. Things like this are slowly pushing me to Sony and Nintendo. Wish they would find a better way to go about this.

 

You still needs a credit card in file even from the xbox one browser

If you want the other two games wit gold for 360 you must haven't a valid payment options

It is a bonus and optiinal at least ms given you the option of getting more bc titles

I never had any credit card on file but I can still download the free games under games with gold for Xbox One via
Xbox | Games and Entertainment on All Your Devices website.

 

I just tried to get the Hand of Fate free game for XO and it worked using the website. Still cannot get 360 games for XO without a credit card, which is stupid.

 

Getting the free games for Xbox 360, can you try to do this via console?

Try to download the Free Game for Xbox 360 on the same console not Xbox One.
