Games for gold dead space 2 not available in your region?

I was excited to see dead space 2 coming to games with gold. However when I tried to get the game it told me that it was not available in my region. Can anyone help me?

What region are you in?

Some 360 games were region locked so if you're in a region where it's not available there's no way around that. Or if you're account region does not match your physical location, it'll give you issues when trying to download it.

 

I live in Germany, the game is available on disc here. So I didn't think that would be any different.

 

Have you tried downloading it from the website?

It is available in Germany and I remember seeing someone else having the same issue. I'll see if I can find their thread again.

 

I have tried getting it on the website but it gives me the same issue.

 

I can't find the post I'm looking for but I think he was able to it from the website with no problem.

The only things I could suggest are to post int he support section of this forum so support will see it and possibly have a solution and/or try migrating your account region (Sign in to your Microsoft account) even if your account is already set for
Germany. For some reason there have been issues on some accounts where the region for 360 content is set differently than it's actually supposed to be.

 

There is no resolution. We are talking region restriction, so welcome back to 1988 before the fall of the Berlin wall.

 

The game is available in Germany so region restriction is only an issue if you're account region is not set for Germany.

 

Correct, that you can buy it from any other online sales portal, than Microsoft Store. When you as end-user buy a package of games, then you expect to get 100 % and not only 75 %

I as affected end-user have the feeling that Microsoft did not handle the issue fair.

I´m not sure if Microsoft`s current marketing for “Games with Gold” is in the line of the laws of EU concerning marketing, due to that you cannot promise end-users 4 games per month, if they can only get 3 of 4. Then they have to correct it to example “You
can maybe get 4 games per months, depending on where you register your account”.
