    So I bought a couple games on my Xbox (Division 2 and Metro exodus) Both these games either wouldn't launch or would play, freeze and then crash. I got the games refunded as I know they weren't exactly the most bug free games released because apparently
    it takes 3 years and a lot of hype to make a game that doesn't work. I didn't think anything of this until now I have a whole host of games that won't load. They just display the title screen and boot me back out to the dashboard with no further information.
    Some now actually freeze and then I close the game to then my Xbox randomly powers down which gives me a heart attack every time as I spent £450 on it. My disc games appear to have worked fine for now.

    I need to know if someone knows a fix for this? It's a 2 year old Xbox one x that has never been abused and is constantly looked after.

    So far I have tried:

    1. Power Cycling (Standard go to for every issue I ever had)

    2. Messing around with games on both my internal and external hard drive. (Because apparently 3TB of space is just about sufficient for GTA V and Destiny 2)

    3. Clearing local saved games (Including xbox 360 games)

    4. Resetting the console (Both factory reset and reset without removing games and apps)

    5. Removing my account and even switching account

    6. Uninstalling and reinstalling games which worked for pubg for the first use. (Not exactly a feasible solution unless I live in Richard Branson's house.)

    7. Clearing all saved game data too see if it was a corrupt cloud save for a game I don't care too much about. (Sorry PVZ 2)

    8. I even sent my Xbox off too some techies to clear out the internal dust and reapply thermal paste around the processor too see if the shutting down was overheating related.

    9. A whole bunch of other solutions I have tried, such as display, network and storage settings.

    Please can someone help as I feel rather hard done by as I am now on week 2 of lockdown and have been restricted to World of warships, Far cry 5, Trackmania turbo and Lego harry potter which is driving me insane.

    I have already gradually made the transition to pc before anyone decides to tell me to switch or should have done so in the past.

    Hello Maximus Lengf,

    After reading all the steps you've done, I think that it is possible that the OS is corrupted.

    So the only thing you are left to try is reinstalling the OS offline via USB (like you were doing an offline update).

    Please follow the steps described in the link below and tell us if that solved the issue :

    What looks strange is that only happens with your digital games. ALL of your disc games work?

    Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are having issues launching games.



    I would recommend that you perform a
    Power Cycle     on your console. Doing so just might help with the problem you are having.

    Hi,

    I tried the offline update instructions down to the letter and the update executed the way it was meant to but my problems are still persisting. But the fact that it is digital games that I am having the issue with leads me to believe that it is not an issue
    on my end but rather to do with the game publishers or microsofts service.

    I am open to other suggestions.
