Games available for download without purchase

Feel I should bring this issue to light before i get in trouble for playing games I do not own. I used to own cod ghosts on disc and dead rising 3 on disc. While going through the store they were both available to me to install without pruchase, I started
both games to see if they in fact do work and they do. Ghosts has all the dlc map packs as well. I also downloaded titanfall which at first i thought was a demo. So i have those 3 games on my harddrive without purchase. I have bought games on live (ksr and
powerstar golf). I just dont know if anyone else has had this issue....if you can call it that

Unless places like that offer a digital download, there is no way to do that until you have the actual disc. If the game is available for purchase through the Xbox Live marketplace (which that one is), you can purchase it through there and download and play
immediately without waiting for a disc.

 

Is Free Fall map now free for everyone?

I don't have the DLC and I've never redeemed Free Fall but for someone reason it's available for download in the addons menu without purchase, is it now free for anyone?

 

This is actually normal, believe it or not. The game is just a program, and most games in the market place you can download and install. But to play it you have to have a license. The license comes in two formats, either digital or physical (download
or disc). If you have a physical copy in the drive or installed on your machine, then you can get the digital version, but if you try and play the digital version without the game in the drive, it shouldn't work. You should get a message along the lines
of "If you own this game please insert disc or purchase a digital copy to play".

It's honestly why I always go digital when I can. That way I can take it with me wherever I go. I can go to my buddy's who only has a physical copy, but I can play on my account and don't have to have the disc in to play since I have a digital license
attached to my gamertag.

 

I think that's the problem, though - he's saying that he no longer has the discs, but is still able to play the digital copies he downloaded.

It is definitely normal to be able to download the digital "store" version of the games, independent of the disc, but the being able to start the game up without the disc in the drive is certainly alarming!

 

The thing is when i dont have fifa in the disc drive, i cant play- I never had titanfall and never had the dlcs for cod ghosts... these games for some reason are playable to me

 

Did you install FIFA from the store also, or just the disc? If just the disc, then that's probably why this glitch isn't working for that particular game. Ghosts DLC is slightly weird, but if the store let you DL the "gold" version, that would account for
it, I think. Pretty sure the Gold digital version is like the "hardened" version of past CoD games which included all DLC.

Titanfall, though... that's just super crazy times, right there....

Out of curiosity, have you received any purchase confirmation emails from these downloads? Put another way, do you have a credit card tied to your MS account that could be getting charged for these?

Another possibility, have you logged in on a friend's Xbox anywhere? If they accidentally log in as you and apply a digital download code for a game, it would show up on your console like you owned it, I believe. It's a stretch, but it could happen....

No i didnt receive any confirmation emails for any purchases and I did not log into a friends xbox anywhere. The only thing I can think of is I sold my day one version in February to help me fund my PC. Then I ended up getting another xb1 anyways. The person
I sold it to might have made purchases to an xb1 that was registered to me. After I got my new one I deactivated the old one and only have my new console on it now.

 

Hey, MstrPitt. Do you have any friends or family members that might have purchased these titles digitally and have your console marked as their Home Console?

 

No, The only people that use my console are my wife and I. I just checked my purchases on my account and there is no sign of these either. Everything else in the store is priced normally as well.

 

Is the console used or bought new?
