Games are games are games...

Don't Starve wasn't my kind of game, I found it got boring really quick. Haven't had the opportunity to play Outlast.

 

I thought I would bored of it fast too but something about it i justl ove. Maybe because i don't play many roguelikes? My Dad's addicted to it though: he likes to rub it in my face he got further than me. I only got as far as Day 12.

 

Must. See. More. Before. Making. Rash. Decision.

 

At least someone agrees with me.

 

I like the idea of indie games, they are potentially the developers of future games that may make AAA titles, Dev's have to start somewhere and why not start here.

 

Whilst I haven't been to much of an indie fan myself in the past, I saw this posted in another section and after reading up, I was quite surprised. I may try some of them out.

 

i'm mostly interested in seeing what the indie developers do as far as innovation, i believe we are getting to the point that AAA studios are using huge amounts of resources on their games so they are less likely to take a risk with a new idea because of
the possibility of it being a failure. but indie developers are able to try new concepts and ideas without worrying if a failed game will not have the same impact... they could even get crowd source funding.

 

I like indies,my favourites are Epic,Crytek,Respawn....

And great to see old/new indies coming on Xbox one.

 

FRU. great game to utilize the Kinect in games. love it.

 

One of the best games i ever played, is Trials HD, and Trials Evolution. Both by an original Indie company. And now RedLynx is owned by Ubisoft, so as someone said.

Today's Indie's could well be the AAA or big game makers of tomorrow. The more games the merrier, IMO, as it gives gamers more choice

 

I'm surprised to hear Outlast is an indie game. I didn't realize it. It's quite impressive, but definitely not for everyone. I played it on the PC.

The problem I have with indie games, is that you get very "samey" games in waves. By that I mean when Minecraft got released, all of a sudden every man and their dog was releasing some sort of "Minecrafty" game.

Now were in the winter of "Survival Horror" games (brought on by Day Z) and literally every man and their dog is doing a "Survival Horror" game.

I wonder what the next big thing in indie games will be, possibly something to do with gravity or time travel I'll bet.

 

Dude a horror survival game through the eyes of a dog! That would be epic!!!

I don't think its less of a risk for indie dev's as most if them have a lot riding on the game they are creating, just look with the creator of Fez went through just to get his baby out there.

He was facing law suit from ex developer friend who started game with him, constant crashes and game breaking bugs! He also when previewing his game had to reset the system every 5 minutes because last minute game breaking bug.

The dude almost failed big time, like i said before though although it was released as an arcade game he was doing everything on his own with small funding from a canadian company if I'm not remembering correctly.

Same with the 2 creators of super meatboy, we were looking at one guy with a woman he wanted to start his life with, a child enroute and bills coming out of his ears. His games success would have impact on everything in his life.

The other guy was sick with a rare disease, his parents who he lived with due to his disease were struggling to pay their mortgage. His career and dreams of game creation was riding on his games success!

These are amazing story's of the hardcore will to push through all for the sake of the game!

In my eyes it gets no more hard core.

Yes this style of game will see fresh new ideas but believe me when i say their is still immense pressure to succeed.

@SMG thank you for the support, i was feeling cooky as if i was starting to think i was trying to tell him what he likes even though my post never once insinuate that.

Overall i don't know the guy and he may be really cool but i can respect the fact he is very opinionated, as this is the way i am.

The people at my job even tease me cause i will fight for my opinions. Sometimes we all take things too far... Just wish sword would see i wasnt pushing nothing on him simply trying to debate the oh its just an indie game stereo type.

And btw Sword those 3 music games i listed are not music games. They are programs for creating your own full length music all on the xbox! Just saying cause you made it sound like guitar hero or something.

That happens regardless. We have seen it happen when COD of was released. How about all the platformers that came out after the success of Mario?
