    I don't know where this needs to be directed, every time I try to play a game of any sort the xbox locks up I have to go into a complete power down to get it to go back to the dashboard. I have tried downloaded games and games on disk they both lock the
    xbox up.this occurred right after I received a message from a unknown person by the name of(. X9xt4yxunknown) please my xbox is my main joy as I am disabled, legs are going out nerve damage. am I hacked or have a virus from this message. Please feel free to

    From game to game I gathered you couldn't because of the disk in the drive situation but what if I were playing a game with the disk in the drive and wanted to switch to tv or an app then back again would it work?

    Since you are able to log in at your profile I doubt this is a hacking case. When your console isn't able to play a game do you receive any error code?

    play from hard drive

    Xbox Live disk games haven't been ever been able to play games off of the hard drive after they are installed. The disk must be in the disk drive to play the game. Installing games to the hard drive causes the disk to spin less once it is in the disk drive,
    which causes slower loading times and makes the Xbox quieter.

    Error code

    If this all started as an update for a game or happened when trying to play a game. I would suggest opening up the disk drive, turning off the xbox(make sure the disk drive stays open), put game disk in the disk drive, turn on the xbox and this should trigger
    the update.

    I would like to ask...

    Does the disk drive make a sound when it starts the game?

    - Usually when a game is loaded the disk drive will make a mild sound. If it does not it is probably the lens or disk drive.

    My xbox makes a whirring noise when there is a disk in it

    I vacuumed out the disk drive and cleaned the disk and there is no whirring noise. Maybe it was the disk drive and/or the disks being dirty? Im going to play the game to see if anything happens.

    Can't load a game.

    Do you have the disk in the drive? Even though a game is downloaded to the hard drive, you still have to have the disk in the drive in order to launch it. The system will spin the disk for a second to verify that it is there, and then everything afterwards
    will run from the hard drive.
