games and dashboard in other languages

Hello,

i just wanted to order a xbox one and learned that i/you cant set the system and game language to english if you

live in a non english speaking country. I am an english speaking person living in germany and i cant stand the

translated content.

Are there any plans to change this?

Do games sold in germany have english audio tracks?

Hello,

It goes by the language you have setup for your account region. If your region is in Italian and other languages are selectable you should be able to change that by following the directions
here.

If only Italian is selectable then that's all that will be available in terms of the language of your dashboard and the games you download from the marketplace.

And yes, having an english dashboard makes a difference. Games automatically launch in the language the dashboard is set to and it is not possible to change the language inside the game.

If I launch Halo, all the voices will be in spanish if i have my region set to spain. Once I change that to UK, the language of the game automatically changes to English

Language and Location>

Set all 3: Language, Location, and Spoken Language to English and United States.

 

Ok, but i read that the store is than the US store and i cant pay with euro and access the german store?

Us content isnt nessarily allowwd in germany for example halo 5 has to be the usk approved version by law

Usk versions are usually modified to comply with german laws punishable by jailtime fyi meaning most likely in german

Triple a games tend to be region locked having an account out of region will only cause problems

Currency cards are region locked

That being said germany has the most strictest of content laws

You have to rememebrr content must be adjusted to comply with german laws

Andyes there is jailtime for violations of usk laws

Whenntraveling you have to adapt tiyour enviroment not the other way around you will have trouble adjusting otherwise

Remember you are a guest in their country and have to comply with their laws

If i didnt learn english as an asian child i have difficulty in school and walking the street talking to people

I had issues when i was in my home country because i lost my home language

 

Your only option would be to import disks as long as its not on the controled games list it would be fine

 

You cna google banned games germany and australia has the most gameson theirnlists

But why am I forced to view content in the german language?

Every DVD has the English Audiotrack, no problem here.

I dont want to break any rules/laws.

I just think translations of games and movies anre unnecesary and mostly of bad quality.

 

You have to keep in mind international laws control content

Usk have severe laws as far as games goes content is based on the language of majority of a region

Would make no sense to sell a localized version for germany for 100 people

And no seperate languages selection ia rare in games

 

And is upto the publishers anyways what is includex

 

Publishers have to comply with local laws bringing in content that isnt allowwd will result in severe fines or jailtime or outright bans

 

Bringing in an english usnornuk or australian version wont work if they dont comply with german laws

And then you have licensinf issues

If a sound track has a license of 10 countries but germany only has a demographic of 100 interested in the english version it wouldnt be cost effective to use onw of the license for auch a small demographic

Same with non english games

What is demographic in japan may not be so good in germany or the us

For example shootera are not so popular in japan but rpgs are

Bringing in english halo into germany or australia will result in an automatic ban due to religious content (yes usk baned certain halos for that reason) sonthey have to be adjusted to that region

(fyi i dont knoa if that applies to rhe current halo but it has applied to other halos)

You have to remember demographics. Content and international laws and licensing goes into making a game

They also have lawyers watching thrir ratings

Making sure another gta disaster doesnt happen (banned in australia and japanl

)

 

You can look at long reada like localization or banned games

Mamaking a game in english for every region isnt possible and would be suicide for thebpublisher
