Games and apps not loading after starting from rest mode.

Over the last week my X1 has refused to start games or apps, including the settings, after starting from rest mode. If I go back to a game such as forza the screen remains black but can still hear music.

Trying to start any game or app from internal or external drive gets the same error stating the game/app has taken to long to start.

Only way to get games going is to hard reset console which is annoying to have to do every time. Even trying to reset from menu ends in black screen but console and control still on until I manually reset.

What is going on and is it fixable or is the console on its way out?

Getting the following code when trying to start an app or games (digital or disc) on my Xbox One:

Tried the usual troubleshooting tips of restarting and power off, removing power but nothing works and the console is pretty much useless. May have to factory reset if I can't come up with anything....

Also, if your savegame does not load from the Load menu (don't bother with the Continue option) you should try starting a new game and loading the actual savegame once you can after starting the new game.

 

Looking at it, I would think your last options are:

1. A full power cycle, buy unplugging everything for a couple of minutes. This will also reset the power supply which could be the issue.

2. Do a full factory reset. This will sort out any corruption there may be in the software.

3. If neither of those fix the issue, you're final option is to send in the console for repair.

 

I have 2 consoles both of which are exhibiting this same behavior when starting from always on mode. I reset one of them but the problem still exists. I switched both to energy saving mode and the problem goes away but of course now updates don't occur
when not in use which I preferred. I believe one of the apps I own is likely the culprit or an overall system bug, but since all don't have it a specific app is more likely.

 

So I have done a full factory reset which seemed to work for a few hours and now it is back to the same issue. Have spoken to support and they suggest a repair, which is gutting as my warranty ran out in March (this is my second X1)...

@Greenleafgold yeah if I set it to power save mode it works fine but, as you said, not having it auto update is an issue and being able to jump straight back into a game is a huge plus for me. The idea it could be an app is an interesting idea that I may
explore before paying for repair. I think I'll delete all apps and see what happens.

 

Have found the issue. Even though I'm loading from internal HDD it turns out my external is having issues and causing the freeze. When I unplug the external everything runs fine.

Am currently in process of shifting games and will re format external to see if that fixes it. If not it might be time for new external HDD. At least it's not the console!!
