    For about a week whenever I cut on my Xbox while it is in instant on mode it will not launch any games or apps, I have to power down the Xbox completely(hold the power button down for a few seconds) before my games and apps will work again.

    Games and apps not launching

    Hey guys,

    I have been having an issue since Monday (22/5) where no games or apps are launching.

    I get the error codes 0x8027025a and 0x800705b4 - and no matter what, no game or app will launch.

    My Xbox One S has also started to make a clicking noise intermittently as well.

    Been on to Xbox Support three times but nothing they have suggested has worked - hard reset (done about 30 times now) as well as factory reset on two occasions.

    It was suggested that as I am a Preview member that I should report the issue that way, but I don't get the option when I press the Xbox button to power down the console and when I try and launch the app, it doesn't work.

    So apart from sending for repair or replacement, I am not sure what other troubleshooting I can try.

    Any suggestions?

    This is something that happens to a lot of people and I blame a build up of the cache for it. What you currently do when it happens is the correct thing to do. Power cycling the console clears the cache so it can function properly again.

    Yes doing a hard reset will solve it, but you shouldn't have to do it 8 times out of 10 when switch on.

    Instant On is broken, it's been broken since the December update and I've seen no indication that MS will even admit to the problem, let alone fix it. There are numerous threads on here, all with variations of the same problem and all of them are being completely
    ignored by anyone remotely official.

    The only real fix is to switch to power saving mode, but then you obviously lose all the benefits of instant on.

    Closing apps by highlighting them on your Home screen, pushing the menu button, and choosing Close or Exit also seems to help

    Thanks for all the feedback, KenH2k4 in my case closing apps does not help, only the power cycle.

    Some more info, adding to my above comment:

    As an experiment, I turned off "automatic sign-in", then turned my console off and back on. I exited the sign-in prompt without signing in, and found that all of the squares in the "games" and "TV & movies" sections loaded. I then went to the "my video
    apps" section and launched the Amazon Instant Video app, which launched fine, but asked me to sign-in to Xbox Live, which I did, and the app proceeded to work as normal. I then exited Amazon Instant Video, which took me back to the "my video apps" section,
    from which I launched Netflix, and it worked properly too.

    But I then went back to the main dashboard and found that now that I had signed in, the upper two squares in the right columns of the "games" and "TV & movies" sections no longer loaded (just showed spinning circles, as described in my earlier comment above)
    and then I could no longer load Amazon Instant Video (console gets stuck on a black screen).

    I've tried this twice now and got the same results: it seems that as long as I don't go to the "games" or "TV & movies" sections while signed in, so that I avoid trying to load the problematic squares while I'm signed in, then I can launch the video apps
    from the "my video apps" section (the first app I launch will ask me to sign in, but as long as I then stay within the "my video apps" section, I can launch any app in that section without encountering the black screen problem).
