Gamertags and what they mean to you! Times change!

I just had an experience where my prior Gamertag, SuicideFlash, was found to be offensive to someone(s). Upfront I want to apologize for the offence as none was meant. The tag, which I have used for over two decades was founded back in my Dungeons & Dragons
days where we had characters that would join in at a high level to help lower-level characters survive and build by taking on the big bosses in team play. The got the added name in play because of their berserker, yes almost suicidal, nature. I suffer from
depression and while people don't like to talk about the many symptoms like suicide thoughts, the Gamertag became an inside joke as playing with others got me out of isolation and the thoughts were just a fleeting flash.

We all choose our tags with some thought. Yes, some people choose names that they hope they can get away with, like on vehicle vanity plates, but most have personal special meaning. I thought it would be fun to share them. So what is yours?

I changed mine as the Xbox gaming world is to be inclusive and I do not want to offend. I deal with "triggers" in my daily life as a peer support specialist and it is important to stay flexible and understanding. I am not the only one who deals with mental
and emotional issues and am glad we have a community that is accepting. I employ gaming with my peers and it helps them to.

As a note, if you are interested in gaming identities and how they do help, let me know. I love to hear others' ideas and thoughts. For those with suicidal tendencies, we have learned to talk about it as it is a part of our life. https://bringchange2mind.org/2017/05/01/suicide-is-a-word/ is
good reading. For those that want some humour in their life about political correctness, I found https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5094791/A-Z-politically-correct-madness.html to
bring a smile. Just remember times change and we need to be adaptive in our community as well as our gaming!

    :)

Mine, DeerBabies 17, came from the boy who bought me my first xbox 360. He always told me I had wide eyes like a doe, and the 17 came from the day we started dating. It helps that Ive loved deer all my life and have found many in the woods to just sit
and hangout with. I feel like a deer whisperer sometimes, because they dont run from me.
