Gamertags and payment

I was under the impression that it is free to change your gamertag once, yet it is telling me that I have to pay $10. I've never changed my gamertag before. Is it just an oh-so-wonderful flat fee now, regardless of it being the first change?

How do you remove all information from your Xbox One console?

So am basically looking to remove my payment information and personal information on my console including my Gamertag and account.

I still want to keep the games I've downloaded on the console. Hopefully that is possible.

you want your profile/gamertag removed but want to keep the digital games? I don't know how you would even expect that to be a possibility.

The first change was available when you first created your account. The option for a free change is only available for the first month after creation of the account. After that you must pay for any gamertag name changes to the account.

 

What if I sign into a friend's Xbox One and change it from there. You can change your gamertag (one time, of course) with no time restrictions on an Xbox One, correct?

 

No, the same restrictions apply on the One.

 

That's right. The one time freebie is available for a limited time no matter where you want to do it.

 

Okay. I guess that answers my questions, no matter how much I dislike the answers. Is there any specific reason as to why changing your gamertag isn't free?

 

I don't think they've ever said why.

I be happy with thé non suspension as most games servers usually hands ana suspension aalong with a forcced change

Actually Xbox is thé only console That allows name changes and they all have thé same naming rules

And all gaming services chargés for name changes
