    Hi yeah just wanna say how I am extremely livid however I know you all don't care because there is no alternate product on the market of this sort. My gamertag was forcefully changed due to "inappropriate" content and now I have to pay to change it from
    that ridiculous one you all provided to me which I think is completely unfair! I know you all could care less but I do have to vent about this I could've at least been warned to change it to something else and now I have to pay to change it because it had
    the female dog reference in it which technically isn't even a bad word the only reason I'm restraining from being inappropriate now is because I know how sensitive you all are now this is so ridiculous

    Sorry if you created a tag that was against the rules and it was changed you have no choice but to pay to change it to something else. Even tho the word meens female dog it is still a profane word and is not allowed.

    Also, the warning you receive is the Code of Conduct and Terms of Service you agree to when you sign up for the service.

    The Policy Enforcement team used to provide free Gamertag changes to users who created tags which were in violation of the Terms of Use. Unfortunately, many saw this as an open invitation to make flagrantly offensive Gamertags, confident they'd be receiving
    the opportunity to make a new one as soon as PET caught them. While no official statement has been released, I'm sure the Policy Enforcement Team is tired of giving people a free ride on this issue. While they won't hesitate to make sure the offending Gamertag
    is removed from the system by issuing an immediate Forced Gamertag Change, it will be up to the user to pay to re-customize it.

    Remember that when someone makes a Gamertag that violates the Code of Conduct, it creates work for the Policy Enforcement Team, the Xbox Ambassadors enrolled in Enforcement United, and the community themselves. People have to file a report, Ambassadors have
    to verify the reported Gamertag is indeed offensive, and then the Policy Enforcement Team has to take time away from doing other, more important things, and verify everything is accurate and then issue a change.

    Unable to change gamertag

    I'm trying to change my classic gamertag which is the one you see in games. My classic gamertag got changed and my Xbox One and Xbox App gamertag stayed the same (the Xbox One gamertag is the ones they added with the new gamertag system).

    My Xbox One gamertag is different to my in-game gamertag and I want my classic gamertag to be changed. You can only change your classic gamertag on the Xbox One console, I have tried using the other ways and you can only change your Xbox Gamertag, not your
    classic gamertag.

    The reason I want to change my classic gamertag is that the classic gamertag can be fifteen characters and the Xbox One gamertag can only be 12 characters. If I use the other ways to change my gamertag it limits me to 12 characters and sets both my gamertags
    to that.

    If a player is unhappy with the assigned Gamertag and wishes to change it, he or she may purchase a new Gamertag through the

    How to take off classic gamertag

    The double gamertag is by design, as they transition over to the new gamertag system. Not all games will display the new gamertag system and as stated, your old gamertag will be displayed on 360 backwards compatible games. Any gamertag you create yourself,
    is a custom gamertag.

    These are the steps in order to change your gamertag.

    1 On your console, sign in using the Xbox LIVE gamertag

    2 Go to Social, and then select your gamertag.

    3 Select Change Gamertag.

    4 Select Enter New Gamertag.

    Once you enter or select a new gamertag, select Yes, use this gamertag.

    Gamertag change

    The gamertag system doesnt recognize things such as spaces or capitalizations in gamertag as making it unique. For example the gamertag system would look at "Gamertag" and "GaMeR TaG" as being the same.

    In this case the gamertag "BierBuikBarry" is already in use as the gamertag "BierBuik Barry" with a space which is why it says "BierBuikBarry" is already taken. You would have to wait for "BierBuik Barry" to be inactive on all Microsoft services with that
    gamertag for 5 years (starting in 2016) for the gamertag "BierBuik Barry" to be reset which would in turn free up the gamertag "BierBuikBarry" to be used. That would be the only way to get that gamertag.
