Gamertag wont transfer to new Microsoft account

I want to transfer my gamertag and account from one microsoft account to another but at the end of filling everything out on screen it comes up as an error with a status code of 8016FE6D, when I looked that code up it doesent exist. Help plz? thanks.

Ran into an issue with backwards compatible games. (Please Help.)

Your old gamertag is in the xbox 360 cache you have to go to settings and remove the linked account before you can add the new one. This happened to me 2 when i changed the lame tag microsoft assigned me. Even if you put the correct information and passcodes ot wont download your new gamertag until you remove the old linked account

To change MSA on gamertag the requirements are the following so make sure you meet them:

- The account you want to change has to be older than 30 days from creation day

- The account you would like to move from cannot be recovered on a new device within 30 days

- The account you would like to move it to has to be older than 30 days from creation day

Also make sure you don't have money on your Microsoft account which has a gamertag now as it is not refundable and not transferable so if you have spend it first and this could be an issue too sometimes. Alternatively contact support line.

If you read through the guide (support.xbox.com/.../switch-gamertag-to-different-microsoft-account) it will give you
reasons for why this process could fail. Generally it's because one of the accounts is not older than 30 days, or the account has been downloaded to an Xbox 360 within the past 30 days.

Read through this, and the reasons Donniehun also posted, and let us know if you fall foul of any of these, or if as far as you know it should in fact be working when it is not.

 

Hi. Thanks for the Replies. The current account has been on the Xbox for more then 3 years the new account was opened in early December. So neither should cause an issue. Is there anything else? Thx.

 

Right, so the new account was created in December, but have you recently downloaded it onto a console (360, One) or other device (W8, WP8)? It needs to be more than 30 days since you last performed that action too.
