    Gamertag was reported, no free change


    My hilarious name was reported and I didn't get a free change like you're supposed to when microsoft changes your gamertag. I've been around talking to support people trying to get one so I can get my own gamertag and not be SweetJoey anymore and the latest
    one suggested I try the forums so here I am.

    My Gamertag was Force Name Changed ( FNC ) Help?

    Yeah, you have gotten a free name change after getting reported with that bad gamertag. I know for a fact that after you get FNCd you should be able to change your gamertag once for free on xbox.com.

    I am guessing that you received a forced name change? These do not happen unless your old gamertag broke the rules and somebody reported you. You do not receive a free name change, the name given to you is your free change.

    Gamertag was reported, no free change

    As stated in the enforcement site:

    "If you create an offensive or inappropriate Gamertag, it will be replaced with a new automatically-generated Gamertag



    If a player is unhappy with the assigned Gamertag and wishes to change it, he or she may purchase a new Gamertag through the

    standard Gamertag change process    . "

    Accounts are not entitled to a free rename after a forced gamertag change by Enforcement.

    A free name change was originally offered in the past, but this was met with repeated abuse, so the privilege was eventually taken away.

    Mkay, I was given free name changes in the past so I didn't know it was taken away, good to know. I don't know why the support folk didn't tell me that but thanks for the help. God forbid I make a hilarious, harmless pun for a name, that's just terrible.
    I'll be sure to pick a boring, non-hilarious, run of the mill name so as to be sure to not offend any crybaby snowflakes out there. Again, thanks for the help/information.

    There is no free GT name change if your GT was changed (by Microsoft) due to breaking the code of conduct unfortunately.

    You will need to pay for your GT name change.

    Trying to get a free gamertag change but just report them for text/voice messages and they will get a suspension instead of a free gamertag change.
