Gamertag was replaced with a generated xbox live one.

Hello,

I had a gamertag and when I tried to sign up for xbox live, it generated a new one removing the other one. Is there a way I can get it back? The new one kept the gamer points but the name is changed and if I change it, it says it is already being used. Any
help?

If you create an offensive or inappropriate Gamertag, it will be replaced with a new automatically-generated Gamertag doesn't matter for how long you had it.

A forced Gamertag change now automatically assigns a new Gamertag to the account, much in the same way a system-generated Gamertag is provided when you first sign up for Xbox Live.

If a player is unhappy with the assigned Gamertag and wishes to change it, he or she may purchase a new Gamertag through the

standard Gamertag change process.

As stated in the enforcement site:

Usually when a gamertag gets replaced with a generated one, it usually means that your gamertag has been reported by other users too many times and was forced changed.

 

Op,the tag you are posting with is not a Microsoft generated gamertag.

@Cerberus,it only takes one report for a tag to be given a forced name change if it is found to violate the CoC,not "many".
