gamertag was forcefully changed

this morning I received an email saying my gamertag was changed. ive had it for around 8 months with no issues at all. but all of a sudden its considered inappropriate. a long time with no issues and then its changed, really? and then I have to pay to change
it.? that's not right. honestly I might just change to ps4. everything has a cost and a 24 hour wait. so to me this is unfair. if I have to pay to change my name because of you guys, im quitting xbox.

Several days ago my gamertag, [Mod Removed], that I've used for the past decade, got changed by Microsoft. I submitted a review because I was appalled at how it could break their guidelines and the decision was upheld. Growing up in a small
backwoods town in the deep South surrounded by both African Americans and stout old fashioned conservatives, I've never actually heard the term '[Mod Removed]' used as a slur and had to Google it. Nonetheless, it's a thing so I lose my name.
Fair enough.

But I'm quite upset by the randomly generated replacement name for the offensive one that took a decade to actually offend anyone enough to report it. Being large, soft-spoken, and having pet rabbits, I was bullied mercilessly in school and my new gamertag,
bigbunnyxxxxxx, is very reminiscent of things I was called. When I first saw it I actually thought one of my tormentors hacked my account and changed it to mock me. Since then players on live have made fun of it too.

I don't blame anyone for this, it's a random generator and cruel irony the name I thought was inoffensive got replaced by one that's actually personally offensive to me, I just resent the fact that I have to pay to have it changed to something that doesn't
remind me of my childhood torment Everytime I log on.

This is mostly just me venting but if any Microsoft reps see this and there's any way to waive the fee so I can change my name I would greatly appreciate the kindness.

If you have a perm suspension of the account which is completely different you forfeit all memberships and dlc and there is no refunds for that either

It does not matter how long you had your name

If a name is inappropriate then it's inappropriate

People do come up with lots of ways to get past the word filter

Also it only takes one valid report for the pet team to make a decision

Your name must be rated E for everyone

This is the outcome when your gamertag violates the Code of Conduct.

It's is other Gamers who bring it to the attention through filing a complaint. If you wish to quit Xbox and go wth a PlayStation that is entirely up to you. If you didn't want a slight risk of having to pay a charge for changing your gamertag then you wouldn't
put yourself in that situation to begin with by choosing and using a Gamertag that other gamers may find inapporpriate. It may have been arouund for 8 months, but it only takes one person to file that complaint on a gamertag that violates the Code of Conduct
which is determined by the Enforcement Team.

People have gone years with gamertags that aren't allowed.

It's a really poor excuse to change consoles. You knew the rules you agree'd to when you signed up.

 

try this on psn and your account is banned for lifetime because the Service does not allow changing names.
