Gamertag was changed by itself

I went to school after playing and my Xbox and when i got back my gamertag was changed by the enforcement team and it didn't say what i did or what to do it didn't even show up in my enforcement's. But
the whole reason i'm posting this is because it didn't give me a free gamertag change. Please help

i guess im sticking with this new gamertag () since i don't plan on wasting my money on changing crap.

Nothing stupid about it at all.Your gamertag violated the code of conduct that you agreed to when you started your account & you now have to accept the punishment.

There is no way to get that gamertag back,even if you could use it again you wouldn't get a forced name change next time,you would probably get your account banned.

If you honestly believe someone else had access to your account then you would need to phone support for your region & open an unautherised access case.

You don't get a free gamertag change anymore. People would abuse the free change and create a gamertag that was still offensive. Now you have to pay to change it if you were given a forced gamertag change.

Was your gamertag changed automatically and costed money or do you want to change it but it cost money?

If it is because you want to change it but it cost money, it was your fault in the first place for violating Xbox's Terms of Service, next time make sure too choose a more appropriate gamertag.

my gamertag changed itself, my gamertag on xbox one console was different on xbox/microsoft website after i change my password in computer

Old tag was "", now it's "A person8298". According to enforcement.xbox.com I have a "perfect record" so doesn't seem like it should have been forced.

Is there any way to have someone from Microsoft look into this and figure out what actually happened? I've changed the password to make sure nobody is hacking, but it seems a bit unfair to have to pay to change the tag back and if I don't know why it happened then it could happen again :-(

Same thing happened to me. You can change your gamertag once for free on the One, but it seems to have revoked my free pass and is now trying to charge me to change it. My original gamertag was obviously inappropriate, but it could at least just make me
change it, or change it temporarily until I can come up with something else. This is extremely frustrating and feels like I'm being scammed, especially because it changed my GT to something so stupid. Clearly the system is flawed.

Forced Gamertag change

When a forced Gamertag change (name change) is imposed, the system will automatically pick a new Gamertag for the user. A forced Gamertag change is imposed when a Gamertag is determined to be inappropriate by the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement Team. Examples
of inappropriate Gamertags include names that visually resemble, sound like, represent, hint at, abbreviate, or insinuate any of the following:

Profane words or phrases
Topics or content of a sexual nature
Hate speech (including but not limited to racial, ethnic, or religious slurs)
Unlawful drugs or controlled substances
Unlawful activities

if your not willing to pay the necessary money to change your Gamer-Tag. You Could always Sign Up On Xbox Live Rewards.

When you've racked up at least 5,000 Rewards Credits they'll be converted into your country's local currency and deposited into your Microsoft account. Then it's off to the Xbox stores,
where you can use your money to pick up your favorite Xbox One and Xbox 360 games, Avatar props and more but in your case your going to want to purchase a new Gamer-tag from the local currency deposited

As far as I know is not possible to know when (or a site) to see if you already used the free change.

But if you don't remember to change your gamertag in the past, and now a price appears. That means the free change was used :c
