GamerTag Unavailable

Ok, so I'm trying to change my GamerTag. I try to change it and i. Says my GamerTag I want is unavailable. But when I go search for the person that suppose to have it it shows no one has the GamerTag? How come I can get my GamerTag? It's not a bad GamerTag
or anything.....

In other words, if the gamertag is unavailable, it is, as a matter of fact, not available.

 

If the system says the tag is taken, then it's taken. You won't be able to use it. The gamertag system is in use on other Microsoft services so it could be in use elsewhere. Also, the system does not see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So
if you're looking up "gamertag" it may not show up, but it will show as being in use if it's set up as "gamer tag".
