    Gamertag - tribute to cousin


    I doubt this is possible but I'm looking to change my gamertag to my cousin's old GT to honor his memory. He committed suicide in September of 2013 and I've just been thinking lately about this.

    I've tried to change my tag to this a few times times since his death but have not been successful. How long do gt's sick around after they've been closed/expired?

    Sorry but gamertags aren't closed nor do they expire.

    A bunch of inactive gamertags were made available when live for the original xbox was closed down so it may happen again when live for the 360 is eventually shut down but after what happened with people snapping up tags & selling them last time it may not.
