Gamertag transfer question

Hi all

My son has an Xbox Live Gold account and a few months he wanted to change his gamertag. As expected, he now wants to change it back to the original. I kept his old gamertag by registering it on a silver account.

So, I have:

1 Silver Account

1 Gold account

I want to change the gamertag on his gold account to the silver one. Obviously I can't do that as it's already registered on the silver. What are the steps needed to achieve this? Delete the silver account and then go to the gold account and pay to change
Gamertag?

Xbox gamertag transfer help

Hi i have a question about gamertag transfer from the 360 to the one and i know i can find this anywhere but my situation is a bit different. My 360 has never been connected to the internet but obviously my xbox one has, so can I transfer my 360 gamertag/gamerscore to my current xbox one gamertag/gamerscore?

Sorry but this cannot be done. You cannot transfer items from one tag to another. As for changing the gamertag, you could try changing the name of the silver account (a cost of $10) then attempt to change the name of the Gold account (another cost of $10)
to the tag you want. However, be aware that the odds of getting that tag are slim, you got lucky the first time.

The problem is a lot of people run scripts from their computers to grab a gamertag that someone has free'd up. At the end of the day it's just a risk that someone will not have done a script on the gamertag you wish to use in question. The quickest thing
I can suggest that has worked as I have done it myself as well.

Step 1.

buy a $10/£10 gift card and put it on the first account

buy a$10/£10 gift card and put it on the second account

We'll call the gamertag to get rid of as Gamertag 1, and the gamertag you want to swap Gamertag 1 with is called Gamertag 2

Step 3. Sign in to Gamertag 2 on the Xbox 360 console

Step 4. Press Guide Button > navigate to the Settings > Profile > Edit Profile > Gamertag

Step 5. Change Gamertag 2 to gamertag 3

Step 6. Quickly sign in to Gamertag 1 on the Xbox 360

Step 7. Press Guide Button > navigate to the Settings > Profile > Edit Profile > Gamertag

Step 8. Quickly change your gamertag from Gamertag 1 to Gamertag 2.

This is just an example obviously where as if it's Deno you want on the other account you would first change Deno, then on the new account change it to Deno. I do advise the quicker this process is done the better, thoroughly read these steps and ensure
the gift cards have been successfully redeemed on both accounts prior to doing this.

Deno is mine so i'm not changing that and I suspect that my son's Gamertag is pretty much personal to him.

Ya, I will just give him everything. I try to be, he is my younger brother & I have to look out for him. When I think about it, there is not much I really ever did with that gamertag. The only thing I would really lose is tenure. Which sucks. How should
I go about doing this then? Should I change the Microsoft account from the Xbox and then change the payment details? or vice versa? I still pay for gold membership and billing is under my name. Basically, what would be the best way to do this without any trouble...

Hey there Idavid01 - No, the achievements are tied to the original gamertag, so if you change yours to something else so that he could have the original gamertag, the achievements will still be on your new gamertag. Sounds like your a cool brother... Let
him have everything and create a new gamertag and account.

I know, sorry about all of the questions...Yes, we are currently sharing the console, but won't be for too much longer. It was only a couple of games that I really didn't end up liking anyway so I am not worried about losing those. If I do as you suggest,
is there anyway I can give him all of the achievements? He earned them, so its only right he keeps them. Can I transfer the DLC he purchased as well? I never purchased DLC, but he did.

In your scenario, there's: Email A and GT - Alpha as well as Email B and GT - Bravo.

If you made purchases using Email A/GT - Alpha on any device (Xbox 360, Windows 8, Win Phone, etc) they're tied to that account itself (which we'll call Account 1 to avoid confusion), not the Email or the GT. What I mean is: Alpha's email address can be changed
to Email C if you wanted. Or the GT - Alpha can be changed to GT - Charlie if you wanted. But it's still the same account (Account 1).

So then, to answer your question in your Original Post:

If you changed Alpha's email to Email C (so you can free up Email A for Bravo). You would then be able to transfer Bravo to Email A without issues. However, everything you've purchased with Account 1 (which was tied to Email A and Alpha) is still tied to Account
1 (which is now tied to Email C and Alpha) and would not be associated with Bravo.

I hope that makes sense. I'm rereading it a few times to see if it makes sense to someone other than myself. If it doesn't definitely let us know and we'll try to explain it in a different way. ^_^

You are thinking about it in the wrong way. Your purchases, gamerscore, and Microsoft points are connected to your Xbox Live profile. Nothing from account A will go over to B because the gamerscore, Microsoft points, and purchases are tied to gamertag A,
not email A. However, your games are also connected to the original Xbox 360 it was downloaded on. So, as long as you haven't changed consoles at any time, all of your purchased games and DLC should still be playable.
