    Wanted the gamertag Goku yet it says it is taken...there isnt even an existent account with the name goku so is it just a 9999 year banned account that happened to have the name and now the name is never retrievable ever again? lol that is dumb

    So how the hell are you supposed to make a new gamertag if every single random gibberish saying or word is taken?

    I've been trying to change my tag for a solid thirty minutes and I honestly can't find anything that isn't taken.

    Why would Microsoft count Zune accounts toward those used for gamertags? That is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

    How do you know it isn't taken?

    Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live & things like capital letters aren't recognised by the system so GOKU,goku, GoKu etc would be the same tag.

    If it says the tag is taken then it's taken.

    If it doesn't log in for 5 years then it will be freed up.

    How do you know it isn't taken?

    Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live & things like capital letters aren't recognised by the system so GOKU,goku, GoKu etc would be the same tag.

    If the system says it's in use, then it is somewhere on Microsoft's servers and can't be used. Tags are used on other Microsoft services as well. So even if they don't show up as an Xbox gamertag, they might be in use on another service and wouldn't show
    up if you tried to send them a friend request. The person who is using it might also have different spaces in it. The system sees "GamerTag" as the same thing as "Gamer Tag" So if you look up one and not the other, it might not show it to you, but it's still
    in use.

    I don't know likely it is or isn't, but nobody can have 'Psycho TR' because 'PsychoTR' is taken. If you try to communicate with 'Psycho TR' it will come up as
    "gamertag doesn't exist" (because you have the number of spaces wrong), but if you try to change your name to it you'll find it is taken (because you can't create a gamertag that differs only in spacing).

    Xbox was reset and now everything seems to be gone

    same here. Any fixes yet? This is ridiculous... I put in the right email and it signed me in as jugular booch73... which isn't my gamertag. Looked on my friend's account and my real gamertag exists, but i have no way of getting to it. grrrrrrr
