Gamertag suffix issue and refund

Hello,

I just started using Xbox for PC and it's my 1st time using it so I had to change Gamertag for free.

I did it but somehow I ended up with my name and number suffix implemented to a nickname.

I'm frustrated as I care about the clean and easy nickname.

It appears that my nickname was already in use so, the system-generated a #suffix and applied it to my name so in games like Forza, my nickname isn't Steve but Steve9812.

I know its nothing but its getting on my nerves as I appear that I did not notice the optional customization for Xbox games that don't support the new Gamertag system.

My bad but Microsoft didn't foresee the option just to customize the tag warrant even if you're happy with the one that supports suffix.

Now I have to change it to something random then back to mine and customize the second variant.

I tried to find a solution for this and I ended up on live chat.

It is a holiday week so things may take longer. in these forums we are all volunteers that can provide answers and guidance. We do not have the ability to go into MS systems and change gamer tags, billing or enforcement issues.

Give it a little more time and hopefully you get what you want.

For a refund you will have to fill out the form located at the following link.

Not really sure if it will be refundable. You will probably have to pay to change your tag to something else.

You can try seeing if you can submit a refund request, but typically gamertag changes are not eligible for refunds. https://support.xbox.com/billing/xbox-subscriptions/digital-goods-subscriptions-refund

Well, I would not do that normally but I was assured by Microsoft employee.

I already have paid and now waiting.

"Your refund request has been assigned to one of our Xbox advocates. In the next 72 hours you should receive a response from us."
