Gamertag slightly too long (not wanting to change)

I have an idea for a gamertag that I would like to use in the very near future, however it is sadly one character too many for the 12 character limit, and I don’t want to have to take any characters out to make it fit. As such, I would like to know if there is any way around this, because it’s quite inconvenient. Thank you in advance for any replies

The only way around it from what ive heard would be to change your gamertag from an Xbox 360.

Apparently the 12 character limit doesnt apply if you change it from an Xbox 360.

That being said ive seen this mentioned quite a long while ago so no idea if it still works or not.

I was already aware of this, but I appreciate the advice. Would it also be the same if I were to create an account on Xbox 360, and then move it onto Xbox One? Also, would I still be able to use services such as game pass and Xbox Live if I did it in this way? (referring to having game pass on one account and therefore being able to use it across all on the console). Thank you again for your kindness in trying to help me.

I've had the tag I use for a long time too, and I have no intentions on changing it.

Is the gamertag akready being used you may have to change slightly

If the gamertag you want is too long then why don't you try using a shorter abriviation of the ganertag you want so it abides by the new gamertag rules? Using a shorter name or nick name may help depending on what gamertag you wanted too use in the first
place.
