Gamertag Reset #2

Hey not sure if this is allowed but it’s worth the push, I’d like to say thank you for the last reset as a lot of users where able to grab there desired gamertags. However, it resulted in thousands if not millions of usernames/gamertags to be claimed and
sold on online marketplaces. Now, I personally feel angry about this. Xbox do not offer requests even from accounts that are no longer active and the accounts that are pretty much taken for profit are never banned. So I’ve made a tweet to grab the attention
to another reset here; cylic. on Twitter

Yet another rewards program question, lol

It only works if their gamertag is the first one to sign in to a console. If you factory reset your console and have them do that it'll work, but that's a lot of re-installing to do.

 

Gamertag deleted

recently changed my gamertag and now 2 day lateral my gamertag was reset to a random generated name. Why is that? And do I get a refund on the money I spend?

 

Since they changed policies a couple of years ago, there likely won't be another major reset. Starting in 2016, if a person does not sign into their account for 5 years it will be freed up.

 

The thing I find ironic is I owned a tag in the original Xbox (probably around 15 years if not longer) which hasn’t been touched since Xbox 360 came out. This “policy” they’ve been running is lies.

The reason it hasn’t been touched is because I buried my original console. (I know it’s weird but I was 9) so I know for a fact it’s not active.

 

The policy just started in 2016 so it hasn't been 5 years yet.

 

I’ve spoken to multiple agents on support chat about that specific tag I owned. They have apparently ran this “new policy” for much longer than 2016. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact.

 

They had multiple mass resets prior to 2016, but they were never done on certain timetables.

 

I’ve never seen or heard about any of these resets..

 

I don't remember when they were but they did happen. The largest one was the one in 2016 just before the policy change.

 

Despite this debate would you agree or disagree that something can be done?

 

Disagree. I think because of the issues with the previous resets, Microsoft will stick with the current policy.

 

It wouldn’t be hard to work out which tags have been made for the purpose of selling not to mention it most likely it being very easy to reset. But everyone’s entitled to there own opinion

Just because a reset comes up doesn't mean the gamertag that you are looking for.will be free

Why not.just.recover the gamertag that you said expired

This company doesn't care. I only had a microsoft account because my computer made me have one. I logged into the app or whatever it was for the first time today to a random name. Tried to change.. And guess what got the 'you will have to pay'. Contacted
and they are more willing to refund a game than actually let me change my name for the first time lol. Such a joke.
