Gamertag Reserved

A extremely long time ago, I owned the GamerTag "MegaMasterX". Currently, I am trying to change my current GamerTag back to "MegaMasterX", but I am getting a message stating that the GamerTag is currently reserved. Requesting a member of the Enforcement
team to investigate per Xbox Phone Support instruction.

I just want to get my old gamer tag back, I was pretty sure it said they'd save it for me

I am trying to change my gamertag to a different name and when I try to change my name to the gamertag I made it says that gamertag is reserved? I would appreciate it if someone would help me and tell me what this reservation means. Thanks

 

The enforcement team only investigate gamertags that breach the code of conduct.

If it says the gamertag is unavailable then there's nothing you or anyone else can do,you will have to pick another tag if you want to change the one you have now.

 

It doesn't state that it's unavailable, just that its reserved. I was informed to ask for Enforcement's aid in this by Xbox Support directly.

 

Sorry, but support typically gives incorrect information when it comes to gamertags. The enforcement team does not post on these forums. They do post in the suspensions/banning forums in order to let people know why they have been suspended/banned, but they
don't post anywhere else and there is no way to contact them about anything else.

As Daft state, the enforcement team only handle gamertags that have violated the code of conduct. They would not have anything to do with a gamertag saying it has been reserved.

 

I'll give them another call and maintain hopes that I can get some assistance on this issue from Xbox Support here on the forums as well. It's worth noting that the GamerTag cannot be searched for, it pulls no results.

 

It does show as MegaMaster X. If that's not you, then someone else may have already taken it. The system doesn't see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique.

 

"MegaMasterX" is the tag in question, not "MegaMaster X". The two are different, as going to account.xbox.com/en-US/Profile?gamerTag=MegaMaster%20X yields a different page than account.xbox.com/en-US/Profile?gamerTag=MegaMasterX

 

What our friend here is failing to realize is that this account name was probably used for a Zune account or other Live related service.

The gamertag is taken by someone else.

 

If it was indeed taken by someone else, wouldn't it show up in search results for Xbox Support's internal tools or on Xbox Live?

 

Only if it was used on xbox live.Just to clarify,the system does not recognize spaces so MegaMasterX & MegaMaster X would be seen as the same gamertag.

The tag is not available so there is no way for you to get it.

 

I'm sorry, but MegaMasterX and MegaMaster X are two different tags, and I get a different message when trying to change my tag to "MegaMaster X".

I called Xbox Support back and am hoping to get some results soon. It's not like I'm trying to take a Gamertag from someone who is actively using it at all.

 

While yes they are different, the system Microsoft has set up does not see them that way. Things like spaces and capital letters do not make a gamertag unique as far as the gamertag system is setup. So the system will see that tag as being taken whether
it's "MegaMasterX" "MegaMaster X" or even if it was "Mega Master X". The system would see all of those as being the same tag.

 

Umm when I use spaces the system seems to recognize it so y'all seem inaccurate
