    Gamertag Request HELP PLEASE


    i'm trying to request a gamertag, but it is being used. However, the user of the gamertag is no longer active and i have no way of contacting them. is there anyone i can contact or anyone who has been in this situation that can help? i tried online support
    but i got stuck with bots who were no help.

    The Gamertag expires after 5 years. After that you have to see if you can use it, in case you would like to put either a capital letter or a number close.

    In 2016 MS rolled out a policy that if a tag is not used for 5 years/logged into it will be cycled out. You have to wait till 2021.

    A gamertag can not be requested.

    If a gamertag is attached to a perma banned account that tag will not be recycled.

    The gamertag system does not only include xbox profiles, but other MSFT programs as well, such as Zune, etc. Just because the gamertag doesn' show as playing games, doesn't mean that it isn't being used. MSFT wil not remove a gamertag from somebody unles
    it violates the Code of Conduct or the owner requests a change. Sorry.
