so my account got reported for having an inappropriate Gamertag (must admit, it wasn't very appropriate) and Microsoft changed my name using a randomly generated name (which is completely ridiculous) and now I wanna use my one free name change to change
it to something that suits me but it keeps wanting to charge me. I haven't changed my Gamertag since I created it and them changing my Gamertag shouldn't count as my one free change. Someone help me!!

Gamertag was replaced with a generated xbox live one.

Usually when a gamertag gets replaced with a generated one, it usually means that your gamertag has been reported by other users too many times and was forced changed.

The free gamertag change is only available if you were given a randomly generated tag when you created your account and are changing that tag for the first time. Since you previously had a tag of your choosing, you have already used your free change. You
will have to pay if you want to change it.

That is correct. If your gamertag is changed by Microsoft due to a violation of the Xbox Live Code of Conduct, you may either keep your assigned gamertag or create a new one for US$9.99 (or local currency equivalent). If you decide to play on another platform,
make sure you are familiar with their Code of Conduct, as well.

As to the reporting, that ultimately doesn't matter. If you don't break the Code of Conduct, the report is discarded. The report merely initiates an investigation. If the investigation finds no breach of the Code, no suspension and no gamertag change.

Those are the rules you agreed to when you signed up. Playstation has similar rules only they do not allow you to change your name. They ban the account.

Try to report him and if it dont work out message microsoft or change your gamertag.
