Can you put the gamertag "" on your list of inactive gamertags to release?

The tag seems to belong to an account with absolutely no activity.

Sorry, but there is no way to request a gamertag to be freed up. The only way a tag is freed up is if the original owner changes it to something else, or if they do not sign into the account for 5 years (starting in 2016) it will be released. Keep in mind
that the tag system is in use on other Microsoft services so even if it's not in use on an Xbox, it may be in use somewhere else.

You can not request a gamertag be put as inactive.

Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live so you have no way of knowing whether a gamertag is in use or not.

If a gamertag does not log in for 5 years then it is freed up & made available.

Ah, okay. The account seemingly hasn't been used since 2012, and the support person did mention that its linked email is no longer valid, so I was hoping that the gamertag could be released. Oh, well.
