Gamertag reading as inappropiate language.

I've always had gamertags with the word FoKuZ in it, but it always had to be accompanied by something..such as IFoKuZI, FoKuZx, , but when I try to do something like FoKuZ 483x405x34, a name that clearly isn't taken, it
reads it as offensive language. I really would like the gamertag "FoKuZ". Obviously, I'd be willing to pay for the gamertag change for this tag, but I'm unable to because it's reading "FoKuZ" as offensive language. Saying FoKuZ is offensive but or
FoKuZx isnt is like saying I would be able to create the gamertag [Mod Removed] or
[Mod Removed], which you can't.



I spoke to Xbox Support earlier and she told me to come here and post the issue so the Enforcement Team would be able to see it. The chat transcript is as followed:

Rona: Just to confirm that you want to use the gamertag FoKuZ however it was detected by the system as an offensive language. Is that correct?

Kevin: Yes. And I've always had gamertags with the word FoKuZ in it, but it always had to be accompanied by something..such as IFoKuZI, FoKuZx, , but when I try to do something like FoKuZ 4830534, that clearly isn't
taken, it reads it as offensive language.

Kevin: And I just really would like FoKuZ by itself..Obviously, I'd be willing to pay for the gamertag change.

Rona: I understand. The gamertag "FoKuZ" might be offensive with other languages that is why the system does not accept it. Because if the Enforcement team found out that there are offensive language on a gamertag they might force you to
change the it.

Kevin: So is there any way I'd be able to get the gamertag FoKuZ at all? When doing a google search, there's nothing offensive about FoKuZ that comes up in any language. And I'm not even sure FoKuZ is actually even really
a word in any language.

Rona: I do understand where you're coming from Kevin. If the system do recognize a gamertag as offensive, it will really give you that error. I am checking this further for you.

Rona: Please extend your patience for me.

Kevin: Absolutely no problem, Rona. Take your time. I'd really like this gamertag considering I've had the gamertag used before, just following another letter like . Excuse my language, but that's like saying I'd be
able to make the gamertag [Mod Removed]if I wanted to.

Kevin: Since both words are "offensive language" with another letter added to the end of it.

Rona: Yeah, I get that Kevin. I understand that you're used to have this gamertag. I am also researching as to why you can't use this gamertag. I do appreciate your patience with this.

Kevin: Once again, no problem Rona..Take your time. I'm just trying to plead my case

Rona: Thank you so much for patiently waiting Kevin. I really do appreciate it. I've checked everything on my end and I really can't seem to find a reason as to why the gamertag was tagged as an offensive language. Here's what we can do,
we will need to get in touch with our Enforcement team about this through the forums.

Rona: Because they are the one that looks into profile gamertags they can be able to explain this further for you.

Kevin: Okay, that is fine. How long does this process usually take?

Rona: Since our forums page is currently under maintenance they might be able reply to your post within 24 hours.

Kevin: So how can I guarantee that when I create a post on a public forum, once the issue is resolved that somebody won't take the gamertag before me?

Kevin: I'm not really interested in acquiring about an issue regarding a gamertag that somebody else could potentially create if they see the issue is resolved before I do.

Kevin: There isn't any private ticket I could create for this issue?

Rona: That's a good question Kevin. Don't worry as our Enforcement team can also send a private email to you about the post that you will create.

Rona: I'm sorry but the only way we can get in touch with them is through the forums.

Kevin: That is okay. As long as the responses are done through e-mail and not through a public forum that everybody can read, I'm okay with that.

As you can tell, the Xbox representative stated after doing research, she had no idea why this gamertag was flagged as Offensive Language, and neither do I. Hopefully somebody from the Enforcement team could clear this up for
me so I'm able to change my gamertag to FoKuZ, instead of FxKuZ which it is now, or as it's been in the past.



Also, is it possible to request e-mail replies only? If this gamertag is able to be cleared for me to use, I would hate if somebody saw the post saying it was cleared before I did and registered the gamertag for themselves.
So please, could you reply to my e-mail only?

Having a gamertag that looks or sounds like a profane word is against the code of conduct so your never going to be able to have that word as a gamertag.

 

you are never going to get that tag,and i would expect the tag you have now will get a forced change too.

 

Yep agreed when you read it out aloud it is offensive.

 

It does go to show, once more, how clueless the phone support staff are.

I'm trying to figure out how you guys are attempting to pronounce the name. Having mods remove my examples of offensive language and not removing FoKuZ pretty much proves my point that FoKuZ is not an offensive word.

The name is pronounced just like FOCUS, but you just change the C and S to K and Z. FoKuZ. Some people who did not know that it was pronounced Focus has pronouced it "fo-coo-Z". How are you guys attempting to pronounce it?

I have used the word FoKuZ in my gamertag since 2003 and never had my gamertag force changed.

I suspect the second and third letters are being pronounced, "oc", as in Zelda's "Ocarina" of time. The second last and last letters sound like "you's". Combine the whole thing, and
you'll see what people are getting at.

 

The way I spell it makes it sound like the f bomb ( slang term when you preform intimate relations with somebody else) and the uz ends as ers. I think you know how it sounds and spells out even though the spelling is different and are just trying to dodge
the inappropriate word filter. But guess what it has caught you out..

 

I'm not trying to dodge anything. Do you really need the entire back story on my gamertag? I already told you what it stood for but okay, I'll tell you the entire story behind the gamertag and why it's spelled like that.

During Return To Castle Wolfenstein for the original Xbox, I was sitting in a party with my team and was going by kev0587 at the time. All of my team mates had cool names, can't remember what they were anymore, but I wanted one, too. I was watching TV
and a Ford Focus commercial came on, and I thought "wow, Focus would be a really cool name." I was like 15 years old or something at the time, so I didn't want to just have it Focus, but I wanted to see how stupid I could make Focus look. At first I tried
FoKuS but didn't like it. Second I tried FoCuZ but didn't like it. Then, I remember one of my clan mates suggested FoKuZ, and I thought it looked really cool when it was spelled out in a gamertag, so I created the gamertag FoKuZ101 at the time, once again
because it wouldn't allow me to use FoKuZ alone.

If you go back and watch some MLG Halo 2 videos and search "FoKuZ' for them, you'll hear even how the commentators announce my name. They pronounced it Focus. If you talk to anybody that used to play with me or heard of my gamertag at the time, they will
say Focus. I just ran in to some kid the other day on Call of Duty when I was on my FxKuZ gamertag who asked me if I was "Focus from Halo2 ".

I'm not trying to dodge anything. I'm 26 years old, I'm not immature and I don't think having a gamertag that says F-U is funny, I think it's actually really stupid.

I just would like the gamertag that I've been trying to get since 2001 or something (whenever RTCW was out). The gamertag of a word that isn't offensive and is able to be typed all over the Xbox forums.

I made the example above, but a mod removed it. Since i've had the gamertag IFoKuZI, . and FoKuZx, you're telling me I'd be able to create the gamertag IFWORDI and FWORDx. Replace FWORD with you know what. You wouldn't be able to create that gamertag,
just like if FoKuZ was actually a legitimate offensive word, I wouldn't have even been able to create , FoKuZx, or IFoKuZI.

 

I wasn't implying that you weren't telling the truth when you said it meant "Focus". What I was trying to say is the perception others have of your name differs from what you intended it to be. You actually asked "how are you
guys attempting to pronounce it?", in which I gave an answer. Again, it may not have been how you intended it to be read, but is how it was read.

I wish you luck in getting this rectified, but in all honesty, if you want to use 'Focus' as a gamertag, then maybe you could find a way to spell it that is more similar to it's original spelling.

Although the name could be pronounced inappropriately to some, it's also pronounced the correct way to just as many people that I encounter over Xbox Live. Just because somebody's pronunciation of a gamertag is incorrect does not make the gamertag offensive
language. If the word FoKuZ was considered offensive through Microsoft, a mod would have removed the word FoKuZ just like they removed the real offensive language in this thread.

 

Well it is obviously offensive to Microsoft if they have blocked it from use.
