Gamertag not being allowed issue

There could be multiple reasons why you're experiencing these issues, most likely this issue is due to any words that can possibly be identified as offensive, or that the gametag is already taken and is currently in use by another user. Try using a different word or a different combination of words.

Just a heads up that modern gamertags with the new update already has some words being filtered due to a large number or languages being used on the Xbox community. If the gamertag you are trying to choose is not allowed, this usually means that some of the words on that gamertag are not allowed with the system.

I suggest using a different gamertag instead that the system will allow.

it may seem available but it may be the gamertag of an inactive account. The new gamertag system that is being implemented allows you to have a similar gamertag to the one you want .

If these messages are appearing then something is not being allowed.

Try using another variant of this gamertag, friend.
