GamerTag name

Hi there,

first excuse my english, but it's not my first language.

few months ago my son used my microsoft account to create a xbox live account thing on pc to play with firends cos we're planning to buy a Xbox One X.

i told him to choose our email name for gamertag.

he told me that he wanted to pick up another one (the current one "hibyskus") cos we could change it later for free.

i trust him and let him do so.

but today, as i wanted to play on this account myself (my son is old enough to create his own and manage it), i was suprised that if i want to change the gamertag i have to pay !

i went to forums to get some informations and it seems that you can change your gamertag once for free ... BUT the trick is that when you create your xbox account it gives you a "generated name" and changing it ALREADY COUNTS for the free change
...

my son and now i to be honest, didn't understood that trick and find it a bit unfair ! i said a "bit" ! ;p

so i was wondering if it was possible for you to change the actual gamertag, "Hibyskus" to the email account name "Khayahk" .

understanding of course that next change of gamertag we'll have to pay.

Will i get banned using this gamertag?

What would that matter? Bottom line is look at the TOS of gamertag names. There is clear specifics and outlines about what you can and cant put in a gamertag. Who would use there real name as a gamertag anyway?

 

If you want to change the tag, you will have to pay to change it. There is no way around that and no one here can change it for you.

then thank you for answering but as i wrote english is not my first langague so maybe "trick" is a too strong word.

and concerning my son maybe you're right but i misunderstand too : cos again i can understand that people aren't allowed to change easily gamertag as they'd like to, BUT the first time you choose your name shouldn't count as the free gamertag change since
the application gives you one you didn't choose first, that was all my point !

i didn't claim anything i'm aware i'm no one to big companies like Microsoft , i was just asking if it was possible.

i know you can't discuss with a wall or an ambassador, but it was worth trying ! ;p

Crwate a bad name instant ban because ant change your name

Names are a privilege not to be abised

It's not a free name change they are givdn

Because one they weren't given a choice to speed up the sign up proccess

When they are ready they can change their name

Noone else who has a customize name gets a free one

It's not one free name for everyone

It's one customize name for every new person

As there are tricks website that are designed to steal your account info with misleading info on how to change your name or YouTube fake videos that get paid per click

It's what we call social engineeing
