Gamertag name changing is such a rip-off!!!

Klokkwork, I can understand that, but then why didn't they do what Sony did? u can look at it more than one way, ye its good you can change the name of the account at all, but they did not bring charges in to deter the ****heads who like to harass and stalk
other gamers, cos some nutters with more money than sense would pay to do that anyway, if it was about stopping those types, they only had to remove the option to change the name entirely. Ipso Facto, they are doing it just to make money. But what gets my
goat is how they charge more for that than they do for a month of gold, and unlike gold, you're paying for just that one little thing. I'm not moaning about paying for more than one name change, that's my fault, but the price of it was not my fault, I just
hope they lower the price, or put a 1 or 3 day valid free change in. Its highly unlikely either will happen, but you never know, if it would get them more custom doing that, they might.

An Xbox Live ID is intended to be your permanent identity for you on the Service. Like one's name, it is not intended to be changed at a whim. The $10 fee prevents people from changing their identities willy-nilly.

 

I don't think it's a ridiculously high price.

$10 is about an hour of work if you're getting paid minimum wage (In the US atleast) for a name change that you can keep till however you want? Not too shabby

 

Also (i'm not a fanboy, I enjoy both platforms) you don't even have the option the PSN!

 

I only disagreed with it when they made the transition from MSP to currency. Simply because in the UK, 800 MSP was the equivalent to £7. £7 for a name change wasn't too bad, however once they transitioned to currency, the price went up to £10. Personally
I find that disgusting, I always took note of what I'd be spending on games and content via the marketplace. I'd always buy my MSP through retailers and before doing so, I'd obviously check the price of the item I wanted before going out to get it. So, knowing
that a GT change was originally priced at £7, then to find out they'd bumped it up to £10 annoyed me. However, they put the price back to £7 which in my opinion is a fair price to pay for a unique identity. I will not lie, I've changed my GT numerous times
through the 10-Year period with XBL, most of the time, for clans (Which is idiotic) but I didn't mind paying the cash. The price for GT changes will not decrease and it shouldn't either. People would constantly change their identities which would become incredibly
annoying. Hell, I even get frustrated when people on my FL don't inform me that they're changing their GT and some random dude/dudette just pops online.
